Has anyone else received this from orange??

I must admit myself i am quite speechless!!!! :) :D

hello

Things are changing for the better. In the next few weeks we'll be introducing the new Orange Calendar and Task service absolutely free. Click 'Email & Organise' on the Orange homepage to access these services.

On the new service you will be able to add birthdays into your calendar via the address book. It's simple just save it in the details of your contacts.

keep on top of it all

Organise your time and keep track of what you need to do from anywhere in the world. Calendar and Task list can send you an alert via email or text so you never forget an appointment.

You can;

receive daily text messages showing your schedule, tasks and birthdays

invite your friends to special events

share your calendar with other people

see your calendar using text, wap and the Internet

Email alerts you receive are still free. Text reminders from the calendar and task cost 12p per message for messages up to 160 characters. If requested alerts are more than 160 characters long, you will be charged an additional 12p for each additional 160 characters. You can read more details about the prices of texts in the Calendar FAQ.

The first three months of text reminders and text interaction are completely free, from the launch of the service. So go on, try it.

thank you

Orange

They used to offer this service ages ago. Wasn't aware they had stopped TBH. I can see a use for it if my phone didn't do all that anyway, and most people don't have smartphones.

Did you read about the cost for reminding you? 12p per text (e-mail free but you have to use GPRS to download).

Me thinks not....... (Especially with Outlook on the phone!)

Is there anyway you could get the SPV to see if the new sms in the inbox as "email alert" in the message body, and to automatically download the email? (I believe I have described a "push" system)

That would save all these people checking for email every 2 hours loads of GPRS!

That'd be cool, can't see how it would work though. It's not a big deal to tell your spv to get e-mails after you receive an alert anyway - and it does allow you to screen them. The e-mail alert you receive tells you who's sent the e-mail, I quite often don't bother downloading e-mail for days until one comes in form someone I want to talk to. (I don't receive that many full stop.)
