I believe that the OrangeWinger media player plugin uses white as the colour to be treated as transparent.

I believe Orange also use white as the colour to be treated as transparent in their plugins (for the plugin background bitmap).

Is white the best colour? Arguably just-off-white would display nearly the same and so loss of white as an actual image colour is no loss at all, but pre-prepared images may use white naturally and react badly to this being made transparent.

Delphi (programming langauge & IDE) seem to use the colour of the top left or bottom left pixel to be the transparent colour for there toolbar buttons, so the transparent colour can be selected, and where images have a blank border surround it will automatically be made transparent.

Is there a better colour to user as a default transparent colour, or is there a useful pixel in an image to use as the transparent key - any other ideas for how plugins should handle images that may or may not be transparent? Maybe the transparent colour should be specifiable in the xml?

I think a lot of things (skins for different progs) use a nasty bright pink colour for transparent, presumably because its such a nasty collour no one would want to use it lol

why are u asking? are u writing a plugin thats skinable?

best colour for transparency is definitely hot pink..... #ff00ff (r=255, g=0, b=255)

its a good colour cos the chances of actually using that colour anywhere are extremely remote :)

white is not a good colour at all, cos its a very common colour

Hi, do any of the built in microsoft plugins have a transparent colour?

I've tried white, pink and transparent (gif) but none of them seem to go transparent.

Richie M's Alarm plugin uses white as transparent so Microsoft plugins should have some way of doing transparency I'm sure.
