Guest Deathrow Posted January 9, 2004 Report Posted January 9, 2004 Thx m8.. Kingdom master, you can see it here: http://www.orange.co.uk/cgi-bin/business/p...&phone=spvm1000
Guest Skilty Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 Don't bother speaking to Orange about it though!- The empty head i spoke to on 150 said it does'nt exist. After a second phone call i was instructed that there was no price available for it yet and they did'nt know when it would be out!!! :x
Guest goinnuts Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 if your talking about orange uk, we havn't been told anything about it yet. let alone if we're actually going to relaese it. the hp jonarda never sold so i think its doubtful.
Guest mikey808 Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 I've spoken to Orange customer services today about the SPV M1000. The guide price at the moment is £440, but less as an upgrade, maybe around the £300 mark if on a high tariff. The phone is in testing at Orange's site at Banbury and will be released when that procedure is complete. No date for that. It is apparently extremely unlikely not to be released especially as Orange have gone to the trouble to brand it and have also produced specs and a PDF user guide specific to Orange. I await with some interest.
Guest solo Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 That does look nice! I have had the original SPV since it first came out and a year later I am looking around for a replacement. I set myself a set of features I would like to upgrade to: Built-in Camera Bluetooth Win 2003 Faster processor There is nothing around that has all of those features yet. The SPV E200 comes close, but the processor is the same. I was looking forward to the up and coming Motorola 220 (due out later this year perhaps), but maybe I should be now looking at the SPV M1000... But how do you compare a PDA with a phone against a phone with pda features?hmmmm....
Guest mattscholey Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 I'm thinking about upgrades too. This would do everything I want, except I'd like a small clamshell ideally. Not sure what to do. And if this is anything like the XDA2 then it's too expensive, but as with orange i can get it on upgrade, it should be cheaper. Matt
Guest James Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 well is a pocket pc and so will have to be around the price of a top end one of those.. i had a small play with one the other day and they are very nice! would love one! Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 22, 2004 Report Posted January 22, 2004 l have the iMate version and it rocks! P
Guest mikey808 Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 I'm jealous Paul ! I had a sneaking suspicion you were going to remind us you had that iMate. I'll have to wait until Orange release it, as I can only afford one on an upgrade... Oh well just have to keep on waiting..... Why are Orange SO slow to test and release devices ?
Guest Yousaf Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 im trying to get one of these i need it to work with line 2! now i know in the spec sheet of the m1000 it says it will and i would invest in imate if i knew that it also worked with line 2 BUT i need to be sure. Paul can u verify if this is possible? On the case of getting hold of the M1000 its a pain - orange business support and direct sales dont seem to have a clue and neither do the business orange store they have reffered me 2! Youd think they they would have some knowledge as its on their company website :?
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 I don't have a L2 SIM i'm afraid, so I can't test... P
Guest mattscholey Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Does this phone have Wi-fi, (as an add-on SD card or anything). Because I have a broadband wireless router downstairs, giving me wireless broadband on my PC upstairs, and would love to use this with my phone (around the house, fast, and free). Also Paul - do you use this as your day to day phone instead of Smartphone, and why/why not. Thanks, Matt
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 I use the Socket SD WiFi which works pretty well. I sometimes use it as my day to day device.... My day to day device varies, I use an XDA2, an E200, an MPx200 and sometimes even a Nokia 6600... As long as your are satisfied with the size, then it makes a fine everyday device. I do recommend installing something like 'Finger Clix' (free to iMate owners) to make dialling easier tho! P
Guest mikey808 Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 Yousaf: Regarding your question about Line 2 being accessible on an iMate. I've read the same queries over at xda-developers.com, regarding folks with unlocked XDA IIs trying to get Line 2 working on Orange. The only solution at present seems to be to wait and buy the M1000, or get hold of an Orange M1000 ROM from Holland or wait for the M1000 to be released over here and get the ROM then. There also appears to be an issue with using MMS on Orange for the same reason. That may have been solved though. Check the forums over at http://forum.xda-developers.com for more details.
Guest Yousaf Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 thanx guys, the o2 rep came to our place and showed me an xda 2 and yes its a an amazing screen and feature set but i think im gonna stick with the e200 for now. ive heard the line 2 support is flakey and thats coming from orange data support themseleves. my line 2 is my most important number with it being my business line. but i will check the developers forum out of interest
Guest BobaKet Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 We've been told on our handset training that that MMS doesn't work on the M1000, probably one of the reasons this isn't being released to domestic customers... no photo messaging equals less money, their trying to get you to spend more so they won't release a fone to the general public these days unless their gonna get their money back off you in extra service charges... ... and Line 2 isn't supported either.... which also makes it pretty usless as a business tool too
