Voice Dialling for E200

Hi guys,

my 1st post.

Have done a search on voice dialling and all i came up with was references to car kits.

Can voice dialling be done from the E200? via an app' or whatever? I just got a pair of these for me and the wife and cannot believe it cannot do voice dialling out of the box! I've had phones for years that could do this!

Wish I'd come across this forum before buying.

Cheers,

Phil

Try Fonix voice dial - third party software. Not sure if it works with the E200 but certainly works very well with the origional SPV. No training required!

if you buy fonix products do not loose your code as the after sales service is crap ,i updated my spv and lost everything and reinstalled and sent fonix an email for the serial number including all my original payment details that was 15 dec still no response not a good support therefore i do not reccomend the app to any one plus it does not really work that well

I have to agree with peekie, it's not very good at all to be honest. I've even tried it in total silence and it only seems to respond correctly to names beginning with hard consonants and even then only about 1 in 10 times is accurate. I speak with a neutral accent too.I have to agree with peekie, it's not very good at all to be honest. To counter the last comment, I get it fully correct at least 9 out of 10 times. It's even perfectly capable of hearing me read out numbers to dial, picking from home/work/mobile etc. The only word I seem to have troubles with is "goodbye".

Now, an absolute must request would be for it to somehow trigger headset mode so that I can talk to it over bluetooth!

i doubt it would work for a broad scotsman like me

Thanks all, I did hear that voice dialling was part of Windows Mobile 2003 - it had just been disabled in the e200. There were rumours that it would be enabled as some point in the future.

Fingers crossed.

Smartphone 2003 supports voice dialling only when a compatible recognition engine is added by the OEM, it doesn't have any voice dialling capability built in, merely a few menu hooks required (which are disabled by default). Therefore it would be up to Orange to license an engine, I can't see that being done for existing models, they may well license the technology for future hardware devices, who knows...

now have my serial number and it works again ,there is another voice app around now both are different on asks for the name ( fonix ) and if your not too drunk dials it and the other one vio voicedial records a voice tag ( same as a nokia voice dial but with a cat ) this works ok but i tryed 1 word mum and it dialled the orange helpdesk (not my mother but ok the spv's mother in a way )  shame there is not a mix from the 2 the perfect voice dial then ??

A quick point about fonix is that they have likely gone around the country (well, A country), and hired as many students as possible to read off a large vocab. They'll then have done tonnes of analysis on that data to try and get a general voice shape.

As a result, don't assume that because you've got a distinctive accent that it will not work. It COULD be part of the voice data they collected. You scots get everywhere (says an irishman).

As for peekie's comments. Once you confirm with fonix that it's got a name right, it keeps a recording of that for future reference. So it does kinda voice tag it.

you can also try the vito voice dialer for free forever as the trial time does not work as it cannot read the E200 's details in the spv you get a device code above the registration input ,but on the E200 it is blank, put both phones one month ahead and the E200 STILL WORKS with 0 from the 11 days used while the spv becomes unusable have tested various dates this year and next ( rebooting the phone each time and it still works ) head over quick before they realise this to

to see the programme and to download it this one uses voice tags like the old nokias did   if you look on the devices it says it works on the E200 is missing but i know it works perfectly

Microsoft have launched a voice control package for the Pocket PC format - and will be launching a version for Smartphones very soon. The Pocket PC version is available now from Handango. Smartphone version "just around the corner"
