I've just used it with a classic SPV with french rom 1.6.2.10.

Anyone knows where does it save the backup file?

Thank you,

Cool, people are using. Has anyone backed up and restored their device successfully?

I know for a fact it will not work on an E200. It is supposed to check OEM and Operator version numbers so will only backup an Orange Smartphone 2002 device. Allegedly it will only restore to an Orange Smartphone 2002 device running V1.6 of the OS also..........

has the UK one been released yet?

Yup, it worked like a charm, I have an English patch for it but i guess its not allowed here.

It copies the backup in the Current Users Temp File under the SMARTPHONE folder.

One other thing, you need to copy this folder with SmartExplorer to your SD/MMC, just to be safe copy it to your computer with activesync:

IPSMWindowsAppMgr

Then just do the Backup, it should save everthing on your phoneMMC then just copy the AppMgr from your SDMMC back to

IPSMWindows

That's that.

By default it doesn't copy it, so you'll have a hard time uninstalling previous files. This will fix it.

Note: Don't copy IPSMWindowsAppMgr with active sync you won't be able to copy the files inside the folder.

Ah.. that would explain why I can't install or uninstall programs!!

I performed the upgrade yesterday and problems are:

1) Can't install or uninstall any programs it seems.. (well any I've tried so far..)

2) mcTraveller doesn't launch (and can't uninstall it/reinstall it)

3) Surrealstart doesn't launch (its installed but can't uninstall/reinstall it..)

3) My calendar items/emails are duplicated 3-4 times over!

4) GPRS doesn't work anymore (but probably just need to edit settings?)

5) SP TM Free Mem doesn't launch (but SP Task Mgr EN does?)

5) 'Normal' Profile changed so all volumes of ringtone etc were v.high, embarrasingly so.. :D

Good stuff:

1) I've got a signal of between 1-2 bars at work -- never had a signal with an Orange phone before where I work! Fantastic! :)

2) Speed of bootup and navigation is slightly better

3) .. er nice screen when shutting down

To me it sounds like a hard reset is in order followed by installing all the applications again from scratch  unless any ideas guys?

Oops forgot to say, I've got an Orange E100, was app unlocked/sim unlocked, installing 1.6 Orange UK update and used French backup tool to backup before and restore after.

Cheers

Dave
