Guest equis Posted January 10, 2004 Report Posted January 10, 2004 I recently have been having problems answering phone calls. When I get a phone call I hear my phone ring flip it open but the screen is dark, the phone is still on stand by. I press the left silver button to answer repeatedly nothing happens, the ring gets stuttering then the screen turns on and the caller ID shows. I press the silver button again and the screen turns off. I put the phone in my ear thinking I answered but the ringtone blasts into my EAR!!!! The screen flickers again showing me the phone number coming in and then turns off again, then finally it turns on all the way by that time 20+ seconds pass by. What the heck is going on?? This is happening to me 3 out of 5 phone calls a day!    (Yes I did search first :) )
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 Sorry not heard of this one before or seen it myself :?
Guest flashflash Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 Ive had a similar problem, where by you open the phone and the vibrating continues and you cant pick up the call. After about 10 secs , you can answer the call, but by then the call has diverted to the answer phone.... Also had problems with the sms alert sound stuttering, which makes averyone in my office laugh!!
Guest ClintEastman Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 Does it still do it if you uninstall caller ID?
Guest scott2eyes Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 I've found that occasionally, I open the phone to answer but it doesn't seem to register and carries on ringing- pressing the softkey on the left seems to sort it out though. I can only guess that it's the CPU trying to deal with more at once than it can handle, but I couldn't begin to guess what it would be struggling with.
Guest equis Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 Does it still do it if you uninstall caller ID? I just hard reset my phone and reflashed the ROM, I will see if that still happens with out the Caller ID program. I love you Moto but dang you got a dang sexy phone with lots of "minor" issues.
Guest scottt Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 I have also had problems answering calls with phone still ringing when flip is open and also phone not hanging up when I close flip
Guest phonesmarts Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 i have never had any of these problems or heard of it... the problems only come up for the majority of the calls, but not all of them?
Guest equis Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 I just reinstalled IA Caller ID, the program seems to be different than when I first installed it on the phone. Since the hard reset nothing seems to be happening like before.
Guest flashflash Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 I removed the caller ID prog the first day I bought the phone. (saves batt). However, Im still getting this problem with answering incoming calls. Its not all the time, and Im sure its because the ram is low. When I switch off the phone and then back on again, I have over 13mb of ram avail, but after a few days it down to 7mb, even with everything closed down. Typical windows, i guess
Guest equis Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 I think it might be a settings problem also different from when I Hard Reset , I changed the Homescreen Time out to "Never".
Guest pembo Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 Ive had this problem happen to me only once, just closing and reopening my phone worked for me. (ive got flip answer turned off)
Guest salad_tosser Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 This trouble of answering the phone happens to me every day and it pisses me off.
Guest smokedog Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 I can't answer the phone if I have my handfree on and I unplug to answer (don't like talking using handfree). This just seems to crash out the phone. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest UKMadBeef Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Same thing happens to me. Not often, though. I thought it might have had something to do with using WAV files as ringtones. Also, the vibration when using a WAV file is ridiculous. Just a constant *bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz* which is usually louder than the ringtone itself. It's a nice phone, but the operating system is a stack of shite. Hopefully the anticipated upgrade to WM2003 will fix a few of these bugs.
Guest grossygrossy Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Do you have your email automatically downloading? I have my phone set to download emailks every 15 minutes. If the ohone is loggin on to your email server, or, if it is downloading messages, it can delay you from answering your phone.
Guest equis Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 I don't have it donwloading email at all. This phone is seriously starting to F****ing piss me off, I am about to sell it and just use my Sony Clie as my organizer again. The damn phone gets stuck on damn reminder ringtones, the appointment is ont he calender and the reminder gets stuck playing! OMFG this phone man I just don't know even today a new weird problem popped up. I dial out and it gives me the message like "The ohone number you are dialing can not be completed please check your number" So I check I have a signal and there is 4 bars. So I dial from the contacts and guess what same mesasge Like I am dialing a wrong number from G'damn phonebook!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! edit: too lazy to fix my incoherant typing  :D
Guest phonesmarts Posted February 6, 2004 Report Posted February 6, 2004 wow, equis...dont get pissed at the phone, its really a great phone. but if you really want an organizer or a PDA, just stick with the Clie and get a regular cell. or just trade in the phone for a new one
Guest equis Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 I know that is the whole reason I bought this phone so I can consolidate my bulk. I do agree it is a great phone "when" it's working, all I need is a calander and phone book. It just seems everytime I need it to call or look up a reminder the phone is freaking out somehow.
Guest grossygrossy Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 I feel your pain Equis. I have similar problems but its only occassional. Most of the time the phone works great. In fact, its the best phone I've ever owned. If you go back, I bet you'll miss it. Here are some things that have helped me: 1. Get xBar or Task Manager and keep the number of open programs to a minimum. I have found that when my phone starts to act up, I kill all the open programs and its works better. 2. If it acts up, try restarting it. 3. Put the phone down, take a few steps back, then re-engage. 4. Open the flip, then close it, then open it again and try to answer the call. Don't go back to the dark side! Good luck!
