Guest Coolboy1982 Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 Right, I gave this a little bit of thought: The bass level of the phone is to strong, which makes part of the earpiece as well as the earphones vibrate. I using the earpiece of the phone, it seems to be the "grill" that vibrates and creates the buzz. This can be backed up with the fact that it stops buzzing, when you press your finger on it. So someone came up with the solution to stick cellar tape over it. Now obviusly that looks kind of messy. So I came up with the following solution: I remembered those stickers that go on the earpiece of a mobile, which are supposed to stop the radiation created by the mobile from entering your head. They consist of a metal protection foil and a plastic circle. I don't know, if they have ever been independently tested and so I have no idea, whether they actually keep the radiation from entering their head, but they are brilliant for this: Stick one onto the earpiece of your e200 and magically over 90% of the buzz dissappears (at least it did on my one). The remaining buzz is so little, that none of my friends could hear it, just me, as I knew what sort of sound to watch out for. At the same time the sound gets a tiny bit more silent, because of the sticker, but that is not by much. It looks a lot better than cellar tape, too. See the attached photograph. Many of my friends did not realise that it is not part of the phone, as there were some phones for example the last Bosch phones before the merger with Siemens, that had a metal grill like that at the earpiece. Some time ago, when the companies producing them, they retailed at between £5 and £15, but now you can get them for as little as $6 from the US (probably due to the fact that they were never proven to work against radiation). However, I found a cheap bulk source, where I can buy them in large bulk orders, so if you want to get some yourself, you can send me a Paypal payment of £2.50 for one or £5.00 for three (to have a couple of spares, in case one comes off after a few months, which I think it might), I will send them to you within a few days. My Paypay account is: [email protected] Unfortunately I have no similarly great idea for the buzz in the earphones, so I gues we will have to wait for a fix from orange to stop buzzing 100%. Until then, I hope that my fix will help a few people to reduce the buzzing at least of the handset earpiece (and maybe, if the stickers actually do protect against radiation, we will all live healthier ;-) ).DSC03949.JPG

Guest Coolboy1982 Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 What once was a beautiful looking phone, now looks like a monster :!: Hey, its not that bad! I was only trying to help. And at least it does help!
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 I suppose it helps your brain fom getting fried too. Just not my solution. Im guessing you can take the sticker off when the problem is eventually fixed yeh :?:

It actually hasn't got the strongest glue ever, which is why I suggest buying some spares, as they fall off after some time probably!
Guest bikespod Posted January 12, 2004 Report Posted January 12, 2004 mmmmmmmm I think my idea of the small piece of clear SELO tape looks better as you can't really see it. Anyway I've given up trying to fix it and am just putting my efforts into annoying orange into a fix. Its become my mission to get some answers. Still if it works for you.
Guest Coolboy1982 Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 SELO tape Ah, thought it was spelled Cellar or Cello tape ;-) dunno why...
Guest ziggy_stardust Posted May 14, 2004 Report Posted May 14, 2004 hmmm.. Interesting idea. No offence, but somehow it kinda reminds me of...a condom.. :) but really, good idea to fix the buzzing sound.
