Transferring Names and Numbers

I have a 6310i and I'm looking for a reasonable method of transferring the numbers from it to the E200. They are stored in the phone memory of my 6310i. I'd like to keep the numbers in the 6310i, in addition to copying them to the spv.

Transferring the numbers to the sim is inappropriate, because I have many names which have multiple numbers in that entry, and some names are longer than the sim will allow. And i have about 200 names in the phone, so the time spent copying them across and then the reorganising them at the other end seems like a bit of a pain. Also I'd like the numbers to stay in the 6310i and it seems difficult to me to see what you've copied over to the sim.

I have a data lead for my 6310i which is a Mobile Action MA-7620 (DAU9P to RS232) . Anyone know of any software for windows that I can use to extract the names and numbers, and present them in a form which can be imported by the E200?

Or is it possible to do a bulk send via bluetooth or infra red? Spoke to the orange helpdesk about this and they couldn't seem to tell me (surprise surprise)

Thanks in advance

Rick

quick update, I managed to export from the Mobile action software as a comma separated spreadsheet. Anyone know if this can be imported into the e200?

I think you can do this if you use Outlook to import the spreadsheet,

Outlook > File > Import and Export

and then sync the info across to your phone from Outlook.

^ @ rickyroma...

I used Nokia PC Suite to do a sync with my 6310i, to get the contacts into Outlook on the PC.

Then I set up ActiveSync to do a sync from Outlook, to my E200.

It worked fine, with just one issue...

The contacts Folder in Outlook on my PC is not really a telephone based contacts store - it was my actuall Email address book so to speak.

With the Nokia sync software, you can tell it to sync with a SUBfolder as it were, of the Contacts folder on the PC/Outlook, and thus not interfere with your Email address book.

Alas, even though ActiveSync is a M.S. product, this however DOES NOT allow you to do this, and will ONLY let you sync with the Default Contacts folder within Outlook on the PC.

So I had to manually make a subfolder in Outlook, move all my 'email' contacts into it, and then carry out the steps I first mentioned - a Nokia PC Suit sync between 6310i and Outlook to get the contacts ON the PC, then an ActiveSync with my E200 to get the contacts from the PC onto my E200.

then once this was done, I had to move all the contacts from my default Contact folder in outlook to yet another new subfolder, before then moving back, my original email contacts into the default folder.

All this hassle just becuase ActiveSyn won't let you specify the contacts folder you wish to use, whislt Nokia's own software WILL! Bizarre.

well I just managed to install the import filters for CSV (they weren't bloody installed with my version of orifice...) although I thought I installed everything ??!!?

and I gave it the CSV and it ate it :) and it separated two word names into first/last names fields... thought I'd have to manually edit it myself.. :D just gotta upload it to the phone now...

I just imported it into the standard "contacts" folder in outlook... I don't use outlook for anything, so all it has are my names and numbers from my old phone. So hopefully this will work.. .

Even if you did have other things in there it's easy to just sync across what you want! Just use the tick boxes in options.

If that was to me, about my Outlook Folders problems, I'm not sure I follow you???
