Guest brelliott Posted January 11, 2004 Report Posted January 11, 2004 :?: I am just about to purchase an ORANGE smartphone SPV type because I need to remotely access a particular WEB site. The WEB pages are too large to display [ I tried with a TREO 600 unsuccessfully ] so I intend to use the SPV as a wireless modem for a laptop that I have yet to purchase. My question is : Is this process fairly easy and reliable ? Do I use the USB port and is all the software easily / already available ? Alternatively I assume it must be possible to use the TREO as a modem : The support and knowledge base for Handsprung is very poor in the UK but if anyone knows how ? [ I believe there is some software called PDANet but I can't find it anywhere ] - I intend to do an exchange for an ORANGE SPV. My local ORANGE shop do not seem to know much about this either. Thanks a lot
Guest mvsmith07 Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 It's reasonably straightforward to set-up the SPV as a modem for dial-up access through a laptop. You can either connect it via the USB cradle/sync-&-charge cable on USB or use IR. I have it set-up for both methods. See my post (mvsmith07) on this thread: http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...1152&highlight= and it will hopefully guide you to setting up the modem successfully. Although the post mentions Windows 2000 SP3 I would say it should also work on Windows XP.
