Guest Gavin Posted January 13, 2004 Report Posted January 13, 2004 Hello peeps, I have just found a skin that i have decided will be my skin of choice for quite a while to come. Now I don't know how this is looked upon but I need to edit the skin to add just one more ingredient, namely the alarm plugin. I have tried searching for the author etc..(no contact details in the file) and it's not as if I'm going to be releasing it as my own work. Can't get the flippin thing to work, basically it's a skin with a number of tabs displaying the usual stuff - SMS, network etc.. I have sucessfully added a new graphic as an extra tab and just as a stop gap I have replicated one of the other tabs namely the MRU one to show up in this new graphic. Would someone be able to check the xml code below and tell me how I would enable the alarm plugin to show up in this tab ? Is this enough info to go on ? Hopefully I have been clear in the above ! :) Thanks in advance.
Guest mcanic2k Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 Try going to www.coolsmartphone.com and download one of the alarm plugin skins and see if the code from the help..
Guest drblow Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 Now I don't know how this is looked upon but I need to edit the skin :) Ask anybody who makes skins & they'll tell ya they learned by ripping apart other people's xml! Go for it m8!
Guest Gavin Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 @ dr. blow - that puts me more at ease :) @ mcanic2k - It was the first thing i did when i decided to edit it ! :D But i haven't had any luck getting it to work, it messes the screen up when i replace the MRU plugin with the alarm plugin. I'm pretty sure its to do with my size parameters and the selected/unselected states of the tab/plugin. But i just can't figure it out, I've spent about 6 hours in total on this so far, it's very time consuming when you have to keep loading it into the phone to check it ! :? But i know one of the geniuses here will be able to solve it quick as a flash! :) Cheers anyway.
Guest drblow Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 Gavin - Just keep bashing your head off it!! :) Seriously, its the only way! Even if somebody else can help, often describing how to edit xml is tricky, & you'll get more actual knowledge about what you're doing by just keeping at it! Although, Richie M's alarm plugin is one of the more complex to figure out!!
Guest ChrisJM Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 wat i did was took a skin, played around with gfx and then the xml. Then i just decided to write my own xml, now it is easier just to edit the one i wrote myself.
