Guest smeg36 Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 So, here is the deal. I hate AT&T, and really don't want my phone saying it on it. Had anyone found a good way to remove the AT&T Wireless white paint that is under the keypad (for Orange, it is their orange logo I think)? I was thining of using a razor, but there is high chance I would scratch my pretty phone. Any other ideas? (I know, this seems really stupid, but I am extreemly anal when it comes to these things!)
Guest D-rated Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 I'm wanting to do the same thing. I read on another thread (or maybe another forum, not sure) that someone used a hobby-knife to remove the silkscreen ATT logo. I'm guessing an Exacto knife or something like that. But like you said, I'd be worried about scratching the phone as well. Let me know if you come up with anything.
Guest JOEJOETHEJOEY Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 Wouldn't nail varnish remover remove it?
Guest smeg36 Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 I tried out a paint remover called "Oops!", which I have used to remove paint marks left on my car by another persons car, but it didn't seem to remove it. I don't know if nail remover, or acetone, would work. I may give it a try.
Guest smeg36 Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 The Acetone works great! Thanks for the suggestion. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest JOEJOETHEJOEY Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 The Acetone works great! Thanks for the suggestion. Posted from my SmartPhone! Cool. :) Wondering whether I should do it to my Orange logo now. Will it void the warranty from Orange?
Guest mcwarre Posted January 15, 2004 Report Posted January 15, 2004 Joe, If they notice it is missing you can always say that it just fell off!

Guest mugenakuma Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 acetone? Wouldnt that remove the black plastic finish off the phone? So it works allright? I hate At and T also! and want to get the symbol off my tmobile setup phone.
Guest smeg36 Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 I suppose if you left the acetone (nail polish remover, same thing) on the phone long enough, it could remove the finish. But don't leave it on that long. What I did was to dip a Q-Tip in the acetone, then rub it back and forth on the logo until it all came up. Then I got a Q-Tip dipped in water, and rubbed it on the area to get the acetone off, then used the dry side to dry off the water. Worked great at removing the AT&T logo on my T-Mobile setup, and the area it was removed from looks and feels no different than the rest of the phone.

Guest D-rated Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 I went home for lunch and picked up a small bottle of acetone from the local drugstore. Took a little more effort than I was expecting, but after about 10 minutes the ATT silkscreen was gone. Thanks for the tip!
Guest smeg36 Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Yeah, at first I didn't think it was working, then right before I gave up, it started to come off. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest abatis Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 I used Naptha. Works good. Need a little rubbing with the q-tip.
Guest smeg36 Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 It sure is nice not having a logo there anymore. Makes me feel much better about myself knowing that I am 100% not supporting AT&T.
Guest kristianmatthews Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 does anyone know if bog-standard white spirit work ok?
