noob question about realtones

I fear this may be a bit of a nooby question to ask. But I am a noob, so much so because I haven't even recieved my smartphone yet!

The question is this.....

I want to make my own real tones. I'm planning to do this by recording snippits of tracks from cd's. I'll clean up and edit these tit-bits via a wav file editor. What I want to know is what frequency I should save them as? or is just my prefrence. I know a higher freqency is going to take up more space, but I'm wondering if the phone itself has a limit (mpx200).

I'm guessing I should use mono instead os stereo. But thats as much as I know.
