Guest teptep Posted January 14, 2004 Report Posted January 14, 2004 Hi! Has anyone here encountered "Error 116: Smartphone Identification Error" when updgrading/downgrading SAP ROMs? I'm helping a friend downgrade his unit using Mar's procedure but this error message is preventing us from doing it. It appears before the installer reports the ROM version currently installed and when it appears the installer immediately terminates the update process. Thanks!

Guest zenkibuta Posted April 2, 2004 Report Posted April 2, 2004 When youre applying Mar's Procedure and on step #3 you encountred an error. Just apply the 1.7.0.13 upgrade first then goto step #1 again. I have encountered the same problem on the first 2 SAP that i unlocked. It is probably due to some application that were previously installed. Since i dont encountered the problem on a newly upgraded SAP with not much application installed yet. Regards, Mike
Guest coolsoul23 Posted April 5, 2004 Report Posted April 5, 2004 sir i cant apply mar's procedure since the installer automatically prompt the said error before the installer reports the rom version...after prompting this error, the installer automatically closed thus prvnting me from applying the said proceudre...anyone could help?
Guest zenkibuta Posted April 13, 2004 Report Posted April 13, 2004 You must reapply ROM 1.7.0.13 first before doing Mar's Procedure. After reinstalling the ROM 1.7.0.13 then proceed to step #1 w/c is extracting the ROM 1.3.7.8 then reapplying the 1.7.0.13 w/c is stated in step #3

However you can use the MARS procedure applied to 1.7.13.0 after you can flash smart 1.7.0.13 rom sofware to the phone (after getting an error message) by deleting RUU before the procedure ask for an update and after restarting your PC.

Guest coolsoul23 Posted April 20, 2004 Report Posted April 20, 2004 @Stryper Aquila, boss tama po kayo, the current version in my phone was 1.7.13.0 kung titingnan ko po sya sa about na menu...as i read from the old thread po kasi, 1.7.13.0 and 1.7.0.13 are the same typo error lang daw...so u min to say boss na yung rom na madodownload sa smart website is older than my current rom version na nasa phone ko???di po pala sila nag update pa ng rom version sa kanilang website...so dis mins to ko po pala ma update ang MAR's procedure since i dont have the current rom verion which 1.7.13.0 :D maraming salamat po sa mga tulong ninyo....and more power...

Boss smart 1.7.13.0 is the tricky ROM from BP Philippines, di nila ito binibigay and never been uploaded in smart website. YES OLDER ONE yong nasa smart website, nalaman ata ng SMART na maraming SAP ang naopenline and using their network counterpart kaya nagpalabas sila ng ROM which is more tricky and hirap openline :roll: Naalala mo ba yong panawagan ng SMART na LIBRE UPGRADE :?: Ginamit nila ang LIBRENG BAG for a trick, kaya hayon hirap openline ang unit :D Experts are doing solution for this, if there's a will, there's a way ;) :wink:
