Hard reset has knackered my ActiveSync settings - help?

Hey ho, yet another frickin SPV hard reset problem...

I had to hard boot my spv (across the room) the other day and I just got it back to normal, but when I cradle it up, ActiveSync doesn't recognise the phone. I had the ActiveSync Phone Name tweak on when the phone died, but I've reset it back to what it was and it still don't work. Arse.

It's in HKLMIdentName. If I can't get this to work I'll have to reinstall god knows what to get Outlook working again.

Last time I had a problem like this I ended reinstalling my machine from scratch 98->XP, which was nice...

I was wondering if perhaps it was something in the PC's registry settings for ActiveSync, but I couldn't find a damn thing.

Any help very much appreciated.

After a Hard Reset you should be asked if you want to create a new

partnership or guest.

If not try a different USB port and do not use a USB hub as Activsync

does not like them.

Create a new partnership and Outlook should work.

I also found that, when u connect your spv for the first time, after a hard reset or with a new spv running an older rom than 1.60, activesync has troubles finding your spv. Ussualy wiggling it around in your cradle (not too hard) and/or rebooting your pc a few times it will eventually connect. Once it has made a connecting the first time it'll be easier the next time

Ok I think I should be ok. I haven't done anything yet though...

Just found the ROM update tools, so I will be wanting to upgrade that, and also my ActiveSync, but which should I do first?

If I set up New partnership with my SPV from ASync, will it reassociate the phone with the Outlook doofer? Would there only be a problem if I was logged in as another user...?

What would be the best course of action to take in this instance, ie what should I do first?

If I don't get an answer I'm planning to go like this:

1) set up new partnership with phone/ASync

2) Install new version of ASync

3) Backup phone

4) Install new ROM

5) Restore phone

6) SIM unlock

Anyone think that's stupid?

Thanks as always yooz guys

oooookkkayy... maybe I won't do that then.

I can't set up a new partnership because ActiveSync says it already has a partnership with the same name as the one I have on my phone.

Any ideas? Is there a registry setting I can alter?

Would installingn the new version overcome this problem?

TIA

Nik
