Guest lilngineer Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Has anyone explored the option of changing the annoying startup/shutdown clunk when doing a soft reset on the phone? I think there might be a switch in the registry that I saw on the MSDN site. Anybody tried it or know where the sound file is stored?
Guest martin Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Yes, you should be able to stop these sounds from the registry. Goto HKEY_C_UControlPanelSounds I think it will be keys SystemStart and shutdown (or something similar) Enter the above sound keys and click Value, Menu, New value, String. Use Name=Script and Data=(leave blank). Note the capital S in Script. The sound should now use your script instead of the one found in the associated sound catagory and because there is no p in the the script data the sound won't play  Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest jrowlings Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 You could also get "SoundsCool". That app allows you to set many more individual sounds (including start up) than you can in Settings on the phone.
Guest marc11 Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 Could you explain to a newbie what "Goto HKEY_C_UControlPanelSounds" means in simpler terms for me. Is that from the phone menu or using activesync?
