Guest ClintEastman Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 It's 9600PRO all the way for me baby!
Guest casper508 Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Ive decided to go for the 9600pro as well. Cas
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 I had the 9600 pro and shelled out ALOT of poundage for it. All hype IMO. Could have been faulty but like I said in a past thread I didnt give it a second chance and opted for the Geforce. I can tell you this buddy - it ripped the pants of my old ATI  <>
Guest ClintEastman Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Horses for courses..... [wisper] 9600 PRO [/wisper] P.S. FarCry runs like a mother hubard on mine, DX9 anyone?
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Each to their own, i guess :) If its def. between those two I'd opt for the ATI as you can see if fails miserably in comparison to mine  9600 pro = 1.6 Gpix/sec i believe :?:
Guest ClintEastman Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 When i bought my card, i thought to myself "I want a card that can handle games coming along over the next 12 months". So, i want a card that can handle DX9 at quite a rate, but is as cheap as i can get, and handles Pixel Shader 2.0 at a good rate. Now at the time this discounted all the FX range, (they just crumpled under the stress of PS 2.0). Now the situation changed when the det 50’s came out (due to the driver recompiling the pixel shader on the fly, but not by much at all. It’s a shame really because the NV3X chipsets are good it’s just that nVidia optimised them for a code set that never made it into DX9. Now im sure nVidia have learnt there lesson and the NV40 (which has just taped out) will be a marvel! But for now, ill stick to my 9600 PRO. http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/video/dis...-9600xt_11.html
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Slightly better in that case.I change my graphics card every 12 months with every new PC I get and the new Nvidia you are talking about sounds amazing.
Guest ClintEastman Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Yeh, im guessing it going to be a real BEAST! Will be interesting to see what ATI comes up with!
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Good good. Got any specs atall :?: And how it compares with the 9800 pro :?:
Guest ClintEastman Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 The NV40 (and the R420 for that matter) are both next gen chipsets (DXNext?) so will stamp all over current high ens cards! http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/video/display...0113140143.html
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Good stuff Clint - now to start saving
Guest b1uepower Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 I think iam gonna go with the 9600PRO
