Guest andyc Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 My bettery only lasts about two days is this normal? I ask the question as a new user of the Mpx200.
Guest phonesmarts Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 is this all standby? or do you use it often? if you do, you should get around 3 days standby and a few hours of talk. if you dont, then i get about 5 days! (of course this was after i hard reset the phone for the first time)
Guest andyc Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 I tried not using it but still only lasts about 2 days. thats with switching it off at night as well? I have it syncing every 4 hours to my coporate email. I'd of thought that it should last longer. Is it worth me trying a hard reset, would it help?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 I presume you are using GPRS to get your email? If so then depening on how long your connection lasts for etc would affect your battery life. Another thing to try is to leave it on charge over night and see what happens.
Guest JOEJOETHEJOEY Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Does a hard reset actually increase the battery life? What's the reasoning behind that? I haven't needed to, so is that why mine only lasts 2 days?
Guest sophist Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Performing a Hard Reset in itself will have no effect whatsoever on your battery life. However, a Hard Reset will remove several programs from your handset which MAY improve your battery life. I found a small improvement by not reinstalling the jMMS software for example. Ensuring that no applications are left open should also increase your battery life which is why a good Task Manager is essential. Having said all that, I have three batteries and their lives vary quite dramatically under similar usage - who knows?
Guest beersoft Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 The hard reset improves the battery life by unloading IA callerid. I get 3 days average battery out of my mpx later Owen
Guest Jiff Lemon Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Average 3-4 days. Phone is on 24/7, mainly being used for text/email. Occasional calls lasting 20mins+ Did a hard reset as soon as I got the phone. I also only try to charge the phone once it's flat, rather than leave it in the cradle charging on and off.
Guest phonesmarts Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 so how do you charge the phone? do you guys charge it after a full discharge, or do you charge it whenever you have the time? i was just wondering if it affects battery life
Guest MECX Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 lots of threads about battery charging and the general opinion is that you should leave your battery on charge for as much as possible and running it two flat can actually damage it. Lithium Ion batterys like to be trickle charged (which is what the charger does when the phone is fully charged) which should increase battey life. I should be getting one of these phones this weekl----any way of unloading the caller ID without a Hard-reset? is it not in the remove programs menu?
Guest jim.mason Posted February 2, 2004 Report Posted February 2, 2004 I am a UK Orange user and charged my battery for 3hrs as per the manual. This gave about 24hrs standby dependent on usage. Then i performed a hard reset to remove the mms software (never use it anyway) and this increased the life to nearly 48 hours. However, the other day the phone came off charge at 4pm (95% full), sent a couple of texts and placed one 3 min call, by 8 the next morning, the phone was SOOOOO dead it had reset itself. Spoke to O and now have a new battery on order. They did try to get round sending me one by saying that i hadn't taken out insurance, but after putting my parts on, they gave in!!!!!!!!!
Guest 02stang Posted February 7, 2004 Report Posted February 7, 2004 I have had mine about a month and a half and have to charge it every night. I normally leave it on all the time but by 11 at night it is dead and shuts off.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 7, 2004 Report Posted February 7, 2004 I would ask for a replacement battery, when you charge it do you leave it on charge overnight? Also what is your usage of the phone ie are you using GPRS or playing games a lot?
Guest 02stang Posted February 7, 2004 Report Posted February 7, 2004 I charge it every night and its on the new system GMS. I only talk about 30 min. a day on it. But Im taking it back to get a new battery today.
Guest ratcom Posted February 7, 2004 Report Posted February 7, 2004 Well I get 18 hours out of mine but I use pocket tv for 2 hours everyday (I can get all my fave films now at work) plus mmj is installed MSN Messenger running and finally I always play a game + internet browsing during my dinner (30 minutes) oh yep I have 30 minutes worth of calls a day. So all in all having once owned a NEC e606 & a Orange SPV I am very impressed with the battery life  The fault I have with battery life is the annoying warning you get at 60% and then at regular intervals (Does anyone know if you can stop them???) P.S. I ALWAYS leave mine on charge overnight (6 hours appox)
Guest phonesmarts Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 about replacement batts... are there any official (or generic) batts that have more battery life than the original moto one? i mean, the moto is what, 860 mAh? is there a 900 or 1000 out there?
Guest Hugh G Posted February 8, 2004 Report Posted February 8, 2004 i have not seen anything greater than 860 mah. the closest replacement i have found is an 800 mah for pretty cheap. i have heard that if you did not charge the battery for 24 hours before first use, even if it shows full charge, the battery will die very often. if you do charge it 24 hrs before use, it will last several days. i think it even says that in the instructions to charge it 24 hrs.
Guest gplhl Posted February 10, 2004 Report Posted February 10, 2004 I charged mine for 24hrs when new, and my battery lasts 24hrs before dying, I use GPRS WAP for about 40-50 minutes a day and talk on the phone for about 10-20 minutes a day, I personally think the battery life on my phone is exceptionally poor. Any ideas on how to extend the battery life without a hard reset would be greatly appreciated. Gary
