Email application on ATT Wireless MPx200 locked?

I am using an unlocked ATTwireless phone on a T-Mobile network. Everything works fine except it doesn't let me edit the account information in the email application. It wants me to go to ATT's site and use a web interface to program that part of my phone but since I am not an ATT customer it won't work -- any ideas?
