I'm thinking of buying a e200 and wondered about some things.

Can I run programs from the sd card without installing them on the phone?

Can I watch movies that I put on the sd card without copying it to the phone?

Yes and yes!

Phone performs better with apps instaled on SD card

You won't be able to fit a movie on the phones memory (well, you might be able to but it would be so bad it'd be unwatchable)

Not true :!:

Before I went on holiday past summer I squeezed "LockStock and 2 Smoking Barrels" on to my card and watched that during the flight. Using ClintEastmans virtualdub settings it was really great quality - the sound before picture got slightly annoying buy hey it beats watcing the first ever episodes of Friends....again  (cheap ass airlines lol)

And another newbie question: i bought a 256 mb SD card (not MMC) and I can't use it either through active link or with smart explorer.

I can't format it with "SP Task Manager".

I can format the SD card Orange supplied and I can use that card to store files etc.

Do I have to buy a MMC card or do I have a faulty SD card?

Also, is it normal that it takes two minutes to copy 3 mB with ActiveSync?

Thank you,

Maarten

Hi,

The SD card comes formatted (128mb = 120 odd) and yes it will take that long to transfer that amount of data via activesync. Get yourself a card reader - so fast:!:

when I drag and drop files onto the card (my computersmartphonestorage card), I get an error message with "access denied".

Does this mean the card is faulty?

(and yes, I checked the write protection  )

before you format, make sure you haven't moved the tiny switch to 'lock' i have a 128mb LEXAR sd card, and it has a lock switch..

chek to see if yours has a switch on it before formatting
