Guest McHale Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 Saw this post at PocketPCPassion: http://www.pocketpcpassion.com/forum/showt...0379#post200379 The post was from Lazarus: "Well I cannot say much but I will tell ya this: The pictures posted that are supposed to be the new MPx220.... yeah thats not it. I am not sure what phone that is but it definately is NOT the MPx220. The real one is much cooler. I just received FROM Motorola their product plan and description and unfortunately all I can say is that the rumors flying around seem to be just that...rumors. Don't expect it in March either. Those of you who know me know not to ask anything further because I cannot answer. Just thought I would update you all with first hand information." -Mc
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 Sounds good McHale. I was slightly dissapointed to see those "photoshoped" pics with that huge external aerial - lets hope its really small or just not one atall because aerials coming out of phones nowadays make phones look soooo old fashioned. spacecowboy
Guest aristoBrat Posted January 17, 2004 Report Posted January 17, 2004 I don't care for the external antenna either, but I'd rather have that than the sub-par RF reception (in low signal areas) that the MPx200 has.
Guest McHale Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 I dunno. I gave some serious thought to the external antenna idea. I could live with it especially if it means better reception than the MPx200. But that stupid external SDIO slot. What the hell? -Mc
Guest aristoBrat Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 There was another post somewhere that said the MPx220 had a built-in SD slot, and an external extended battery would have an SD slot on that, too. That kinda made some sense. I couldn't imagine a Smartphone being released w/o a SD slot internal to it. Rumors of specs before release can get crazy, so ...
Guest mcwarre Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Rumors of specs before release can get crazy, so ... :D I have a source that swears it has a probable coffee maker! (external not internal as the cups are too big)
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Funny you should say that. Anytime Im explaining the features of an E-200 to someone, they're like " Does it make coffee?" Probable coffee maker - Good stuff :!:
Guest peekie Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 the mpx220 is now on the motorolas website so its only when as the new phone will kill the 200 flat ,shame if you just got one but then the E200 was in the shops before the moto and has 2003 software ,buying a motox200 is a bit like buying a gamecube and running the old original gameboy games on it  :D :( :( :(
Guest beersoft Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 peekie, have you got a link for us? later Owen
Guest skanna Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 MPX200 is not on the orange website anymore, and E200 down in price!!! Is a new phone on the way????
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Good news - get this to the news section lol
Guest [email protected] Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Yeah Peekie, don't leave us hanging like that, give us a link please!
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 I tryed t ofind it on th esite and did a search - nothing there :?:
Guest [email protected] Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Me too, but those site-searchers are usually no good.
Guest aristoBrat Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 the mpx220 is now on the motorolas website so its only when as the new phone will kill the 200 flat ,shame if you just got one but then the E200 was in the shops before the moto and has 2003 software ,buying a motox200 is a bit like buying a gamecube and running the old original gameboy games on it  Â :D Â :( Â :( Â :( I don't think it's going to necessarily 'kill the 200 flat' in the US. It sounds like AT&T's still going to continue to sell the 200 (and introduce the VOQ) and T-Mobile's going to sell the 220.
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Ok - checked the website again and the closest thing to a "220" is the V600. However that doesnt incorporate WindowsMobile. As for the MPx200 being taken off the Orange website - thats wrong too - its still there :!: :?: In future is it possible for you to post links to these "peekie" EDIT: Check out the frontpage of coolsmartphone for more accurate infrmation.
Guest [email protected] Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Doesn't it feel good to be totally led astray... Space: I wouldn't take that image for any more accurate information than this. Looks bogus if you ask me and doesn't have any solid story behind it. The story it's next to at www.coolsmartphone.com seems unrelated since it was there before the image. www.msmobiles.com had it too (How's that for reliable) and they both state www.mobilegazette.com as the source but I can't find that image there.
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 I believe that image has just been edited with colour to make it a wee bit more interesting. On a brighter note I still think we'll see this phone before May
Guest spacecowboy6982 Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 hello EDIT: Dont know how that go there. Mods :?:
Guest [email protected] Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 It's been edited with more than colour, a would-be camera lens where the M-logo is on the Mpx200.
Guest [email protected] Posted January 22, 2004 Report Posted January 22, 2004 Fakes, fakes and then another fake... www.msmobiles.com report on another fake picture of the Mpx220.mpx220.jpg
Guest alpmeister Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 I just wanna cry,,,,on anyone's shoulders. Just got my mpx200 working nicely (unlocked tri band...)--got it working with tmobile....and then i guess it falls off my belt when i ran outside for a moment in a parking lot--i panic when its lost--and cry when i find someone bring it in--in a few pieces. ....somehow managed to still shine  but now, phoneless (ok-nextel doesn't count..)--and can't decide if i should get a new one quick (Same mpx200) or just wait for mpx220. i need the phone..but can get a quick cheap tmobile upgrade till the 220 comes up. i mean i JUST got it working with my computer at work too..synchronized and all  god i am upset...any ideas? cost me 535$ the first time, figure around same now.....thanks for listening to me whine.. Michael, mpxless in NY
Guest aristoBrat Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 If I were in your situation, I'd get the cheapest T-Mobile phone I could find and hold out for the MPx220. I'd WANT to get another MPx200 right away, but would kick myself if T-Mobile released the MPx220 (which is rumored to have BlueTooth, integrated camera, and the 2003 OS on it) in March. Plus, I really doubt they'd price it over $300 for T-Mobile subscribers. I say hang out and wait, .. if you can!
Guest morpheus2702 Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 Kinda off topic, I was in the O shop in the Bullring today catching up with the latest handsets. By Christ, if Motorola could just get the V600/525 to mate with the MPx200, and inject some WM2003 DNA they would clean up in the Smartphone stakes. As much as the E200 has grown on me, HTC need to be planning a quantum leap for the next SPV I reckon.
Guest ClintEastman Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 Im REALLY loving my MPx200, the DivX quality of my new settings is FAR better than i would have ever thought it would handle! High qulity video/audio at 25fps anyone?
