Guest mindless_fool Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 i set my clock in settings-> time and date...but when i look at the clock on the main screen after a while it changed..usually forwards it 3 to 4 hours...so if i set it to 1pm and i look at it later it says 3pm...i keep correcting it..and it keeps changing....whats going on..i updated it to 1.6 from orange website... strange?!?!?!!?
Guest kelv23 Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 does this happen when you set it manually or through active sync or both? I dont really have an answer but next time someone views this they'll have a bit more info to go on and can give you a better answer.
Guest mindless_fool Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 when i set it manually on the phone...
Guest moo_ski_doo Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 The only thing I can think of is it could be something to do with your timezone setting. Make sure this is GMT (or whichever timezone you're in.) If you set the timezone AFTER you've set the time, the time will be adjusted accordingly; as long as you don't set the timezone, the time should stay the same so I doubt this is the problem but thought it's worth mentioning just to be sure.
Guest mindless_fool Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 tired fooling around with the time zone and time..i realized it seems to go forward the 4 hours when i connect it to the usb cradle and active sync connects...what is causing that?
Guest moo_ski_doo Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 If you go to 'Tools->Options' in ActiveSync, there is an option to 'Synchronize mobile device clock upon connecting' which will set the time on your phone to match the time on your computer when you connect via ActiveSync. If the time on your computer is wrong then this will be the problem, so either set the time correctly on your computer or disable this option. If the time on your computer is correct then I don't know what the problem is, but you could try disabling this option and seeing if that helps.
Guest Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 I could also be a combined problem - if both the Phone's and PC's clocks are correct but set to different time zones the Phone will adjust it's time in relation to the time zone on the PC. So if it's 1 pm GMT, and the phone is set to "1 pm GMT" but the PC is set to "1 PM Atlantic Time (Canada)" (which is 4 hours behind GMT) when the phone is synced it checks the PC's time (1pm), checks the time zone (Atlantic Time (Canada)), and then adjust for the offset setting the time to 5pm (so adds 4 hours to bring the phone to the right time for GMT in relation to the PC). It's an untested theory - but might be the case. Check your PC's time zone (double click on the clock in the taskbar). Hope that helps!
