Guest westy1507 Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 Hi all, Having owned an SPV back last year before selling, (mainly because of the battery life which really didn't suit my needs - big shame as an excellent handset indeed), i'm now looking for a good 2nd hand one. The sales/trade/swap forum here is extremely vague as no-one seems to want to put a price on their goods, (which seems a bit daft as it just ends up in a mass offer war. But then again, this isn't my site, so who am i to argue!! ), so i'm looking to the experts here to guide me to a reasonably priced SPV, (original or E100 - a mate of mine has the E200 which is horribly bugged so i'm steering clear of that one), and if possible, what i should be paying. Any opinions and advice much appreciated. Many thanks Westy Site Technical Help Editor and Forums Moderator @ DVD Reviewer
Guest mcwarre Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 Westy, About £60- £80 dependent upon condition. Go for a E-100 tho much better screen about £120 ish. In fact, bugger them go for a MPx200 on upgrade/new contract for £0!!! It has much better battery life and is much more stable than the SPV (I jave had them all, bar E200, and the Moto wins hands down). Witht he moto expect to get 2 full days of normal useage (inc some games etc).
Guest westy1507 Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 Nice one!! I was thinking around £60 myself, so thanks for backing that one up. Personally i'm looking to use it as a second phone for games, access to my Orange Mail and loads of other stuff. (Cue flame war) My main phone is a Nokia 6600, which is far better than the SPV in everyday phone use, (please don't try and say i don't know what i'm talking about as i've used the SPV extensively and it simply doesn't compare to the 6600 when it comes to general phone useage every day. We're all entitled to an opinion and in mine the SPV is NOT better than any of the Series 60 Nokia phones - BUT - it does have fantastic funcionality and flexibility and i do like them, which is why i'm looking for one! :D ), but i want the SPV for the reasons outlined in the above paragraph. I am NOT a Nokia fanboy, i just happen to like the way the Symbian handsets work and operate. I'm not saying the SPV is a bad phone, (far from it! Just 'different', which is why so many people ambushed it on release. Like all good technology, perserverance reaps good rewards. I do miss my X Box skin :? ) Is the price including all the bits that come with it? IIRC the SPV came with the dock cradle, leather case, charger, memory card and a dongle thingy to attach to the charger when not using the cradle. How much should i pay if one or more of the above is missing? V grateful for your advice - want to know i'm paying the right price!! Cheers again Westy
Guest MECX Posted January 18, 2004 Report Posted January 18, 2004 well i would say if everything is included (camera case dongle thing software etc) and the phone is in good condition about £80. If the camera is missing but everything else is there id say £60. The charger should never be missing really and i would stay away from a phone that has no accessories as it might be stolen. happy hunting
Guest Rubbish Monkey Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 I paid £60 with the camera, case ect.....the phone itself does have a slightly scuffed screen, but that hasnt bothered me yet, as you can't see it unless the phone is off.
Guest westy1507 Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Top stuff, that's cool. Was looking to have a 'glass ceiling' of £60 as i don't want to pay anymore, (realise that may be a bit greedy - but hey, that's what bargain huntings all about  ) Will get back to you guys and let you know once i've got one. I canny wait captain!! Thanks v much again.. Westy
