Guest Matt Whitfield Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 Sky are total scum for getting the new series. Grrrrrrr
Guest morpheus2702 Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 Can you imagine what its going to be like on Sky One? Adverts every ten minutes. At least on BBC2 you got it uninterrupted (if 6 months late). But 24 still is the best drama since the Sopranos. You can keep your Sex in the City and other shite... Jack is the man!
Guest smokedog Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 From the information I read the 3rd series of 24 will not be shown on BBC. Don't have the source, think I read it on the Offical 24 forum. Posted from my P900!
Guest chavyboy Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 BBC 2 thought the shelf-life of 24 had expired, and wouldn't pay up. Could be that Fox bumped the price up, not really sure. It's coming onto SkyOne in late Feb I think, there are billboards around now, should be on the sky website. I reckon the best app for getting them (hope this isn't against the rules of the forum, if it is, sorry, please feel free to delete) is armadillo. Sometimes slow, but reliable. What's *really* cool is converting them to WMV format and watching them on the e200 on the bus!! I also have an Archos AV320 jukebox, so can already watch them on the move, but it's still cool to stick them on the phone, one less piece of kit to worry about!
Guest Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 AFAIK Fox bumped up the price for the exclusive terestrial rights and the BBC refused to pay that much. Fox then sold the first showing rights (not exclusive or terestrial) to Sky (presumably less than what the BBC were asked for). I think that Five (or should that be "five'"?) nabed the terestiral non-exclusive rights and will be showing it later in the year. As for *cough* ways to see it sooner *cough*, I'm sure that there's a torrent of info on the web somewhere *ahem*. By the way, episode 11 is being shown Stateside tonight (about 2pm GMT)! <EDIT> No it's not (or rather wasn't) - it was some bloke called George Dubya waffling on about the state of his nation.. Yawn...... </EDIT> More details http://www.fox.com/24/>here. (Link to Fox's website, before anyone gets excited!)
Guest morpheus2702 Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 Let's not forget - Sky and 20th Century Fox are both owned by News Corporation.
Guest Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 Another reason for Sky to get a discount - it's not fair! (to anyone without Sky or access to *cough* other sources).
Guest peekie Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 best get the facts correct bbc are free to view on satellite which is why they lost the rights to the 3rd . fox is a part of sky tv well newscorp so sky gets it for probably nothing. the bbc is to view in spain and you can see why fox do not want it free all over europe as in holland its screened on a dutch channel ( who have the bbc on the cable for free only in the uk must you pay and it is a sky digital signal they have on the cable as i can see that with the text button )try it your self page 100 on the bbc1 channel . one point here in holland we had to pay a tv fee but no more as the adverts pay now ,none in the shows only at the end and between programmes ,maybe the beeb should do that too??????????
Guest beersoft Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 whats all this p2p network talk about? i just vpn into the bosses tivo in fl.us and download the mpeg2 files  It will suck that there are adverts in it now, but the show will be 60mins long instead of 45 later Owen
Guest Matt Kirby Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Now that's just plain sneaky! I like your style.
