Guest murdof Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 i just nuked by 8080... I had a backup of the rom on my MMC card and by mistake I started downloading the firmware again. Because I didn't want to loose my data I though I should stop the upgrade in the middle (stupid me  ) Now I don't get any information on the screen. Phone doesn't even turn on. When I plug it into the cradle though I get a message that the USB device cannot be recognized on my PC. Any ideas if I can save it or not? Thanks..
Guest lutzh Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 ...you can try to run a software update on it. unfortunatly there is non at the moment. but you can get in touch with me maybe i can help you with it tonight. since i am in the office at the moment i have my tools not here. cheers, lutz
Guest murdof Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 OK.. How can I contact you then? Also what does the thing that I get nothing on the screen tells you?
Guest lutzh Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 ...it tells me that you fukked up your rom :-) we can try to install a new one. if you have instant messenger running on your computer then add me to your buddy list and we can discuss a possible workaround tonight. simply click on the msnm icon on the bottom of this post.... cheers, lutz
Guest lonegunman Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 More to the point, how did you get the rom image on to the MMC?
Guest madu Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 if you damaged the BOOTLOADER then you are f***** If you stopped the process when it was updating IPSM/WINCE or GSM then you may still be lucky 1. Try starting your phone in bootloader mode with that MMC and reapply update from MMC backup 2. If above does not work, go into bootloader 3color screen and put phone into the cradle. 'USB' should appear above left softkey. Run update from PC. 3. IF phone is not recognised by Win (make sure you reboot before trying) then it is a problem and most likely you won't be able to do anything about it yourself Usually in this case flashing/reloading the firmware is done by serial connection requireing 'extra' tools: cable+soft

The only indication that I get that the phone is "still alive" is that when I put it on the cradle I get a USB Device Not Recognized error on Windows XP. 3: Phone is not recognized then I guess  I can get a Serial cable... Is there anything I can do by myself? I also have access to a 2nd Qtek 8080 that is operational 8)
