Guest madu Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 To make your Games folder open up faster just pull out your SD from the phone. Then open the folder. It works by not reading all the .exe files icons from SD
Guest drblow Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004  all my games are on my storage card!
Guest Coucou Posted January 19, 2004 Report Posted January 19, 2004 Just tried it, yes that works a treat! just push the card back in again as soon as you've got the menu up. All the .lnk files are stored on your phone, you're asking it to show those without querying whether each one is valid. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest mvsmith07 Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 Seems a bit of an effort just for a few milliseconds of speed on opening the Programs menu. Must have to be in a major hurry not to be able to wait just a second or two for the menu to appear.
Guest midnight Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 Seems a bit of an effort just for a few milliseconds of speed on opening the Programs menu. Must have to be in a major hurry not to be able to wait just a second or two for the menu to appear. hehe, gotta agree there  suppose it depends how many games/apps you have installed, but i have around 4 or so games installed to sd, and it seems to open pretty quickly
Guest madu Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 i have 30 items in a subfolder (all on sd). The difference is much longer than just 'miliseconds'. It is considerable difference in my case. In fact the numbers are: - NO SD. Open folder = 3-4 sec - SD IN. Open folder = 40 sec - SD IN., Re-open folder 3-4 sec If the cache still stores the icons then 're-open' times apply. AFAIK, Midnight's tweak increases that cache size.
Guest mcwarre Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Madu, You could always assign a shortcut to each of your games (or your favourites at least) therefore not having to open the folder each time...... Better still, subdivide the games folder into other folders such as Shoot-em Ups, Action etc. OK you have another folder to open but it will be faster than present way as the phone is only reading contents of each folder not all of them.
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 All this is unnecessary if you're using SurrealStart of course... ;-) P
Guest madu Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 @mcwarre: yeah i used to have that before, with 7 most used games and 1 subfolder in ProgramsGames @Paul: Of course Paul! Now ask me if I am using SurrealStart>? This is just one of the ways to stop your mates asking "has your phone crashed" or "does it always take ages" (of course it will trigger "why do you do that" questions and to save that valuable 1/2 minutes IF YOU WANT, especially if you want to quickly use some (not often used tool) and it happens to be in a folder of utilities that are mostly on SD. Now if some don't have valuable suggestions, why post your "why would I want this crap" oppinions.
