Guest witchnut Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 Anyone using it? does it work, is it worth the money ($14.95)? Witchnut
Guest deanrh Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 yes i used it on my SPV it is an incredible piece of speech software, the only downside is that it isnt intergrated into the OS  don't buy it until u trial it. dean
Guest Bingo Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 have been trialing it and like it ... did occur to me though ... you still need to press a key to start it up so whilst drinving I would still need to take my hands off the steering wheel to use the phone ... so surely it's not the answer to hands free dialing in a car ... unless I missed something ...
Guest peekie Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 also depends on how clearly you speak sometimes the please try again drives you mad,but i purchased it and all was ok until the orange update which as everyone knows clears the data from the phone. having also formated the old computer and lost the serial number i lost 14.95 as the suppoert from fonix sucks as ive sent many emails inc info from my visa bill and 2 months and 6 emails later no response YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED :x :x :x
Guest Bingo Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 hmm ... poor after sales support is a problem I keep hearing on many forums for many different products ... and yet we continue to purchase from these companies ... suckers aren't we ... I'm not sure I'll be buying it ... thanks for the info.
Guest peekie Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 i find it a real shame as this type of service produces pirate versions eg download the software with the serial numbers ,which harms and destroys small developers, i myself will gladly pay for software even more if the after sales is good ,as these companys deserve support .The ones i feel that dont are ones like fonix that take your money and do not want to help in after sales sevice  :D :( :( its a shame in the fonix side, as the product is good and by providing proof of purchase should result in help as the site does have a support email , just not even writing back is not good  :( 14.95 DOWN THE DRAIN SADLY FOR ME :( :( :(
Guest witchnut Posted January 20, 2004 Report Posted January 20, 2004 It looks like a number of you guys like the Fonix software but not the Fonix support. Perhaps the reason is evident from their web-page: click here and it says free support for 30 days then $25 per incident and it looks like you have to get it from a premium rate phone line, could explain the non-answered e-mails. ........... I'm in two minds about supporting companies like this, I've seen much better free support from shareware vendors. Witchnut
Guest scottt Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Was thinking of geting this software for myself, thinking twice about it now !!
Guest peekie Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 hi all ive got my serial number and this response from the support Our extreme apologies for the delay. We had a change of office location that caused an unexpected loss of data for a good 2 week span. If you know others who have had the same problem contacting Fonix, please have them try sending another email to [email protected] and they should have a better experience receiving attention to their needs. We understand that customers lose data on their device periodically so please remember to print and keep with your records for future need. Thanks and again, my apologies for our temporary slip in service. Dave Pike Fonix Support Mgr [email protected] well companys can have problems so i hope all who buy the programme will get a quick response should you loose your data WELL DONE FONIX  :D :( :( :( :(
Guest Lisbon67 Posted January 22, 2004 Report Posted January 22, 2004 I bought this software recently and I have to say it's great. It picks up the correct name almost all the time. I haven't had to contact support, so I can't comment on that side of things. have been trialing it and like it ... did occur to me though ... you still need to press a key to start it up so whilst drinving I would still need to take my hands off the steering wheel to use the phone ... so surely it's not the answer to hands free dialing in a car ... unless I missed something ... I've set it up on speed-dial, so you just have to press one button to start the program. I've actually got a phone holder on the dashboard so it works brilliantly in the car. Bob
Guest Ma_rK Posted March 3, 2004 Report Posted March 3, 2004 Is it possible to set the button on the headset as a prefix for starting the program???
