Depends who you bought it from. If you bought it from a dodgy geezer, the there is a good chance the phone could have been a duff one. What was the traders eBay name? did you check their 'satisfaction' rating before buying? A legitimate 'shop owner' eBay trader should give you a refund or swap the phone. If not, ask eBay for advice.

:!: Same thing happened to me. I got a weird SIM error. I turned the phone off (which took like a minute to shut down) and now it wont turn on anymore. I have tried with a hard reset but nothing happens. I had the battery checked and it is full. I bought it from a reputable seller on eBay about 2 months ago. Man I loved this phone. I have T-Mobile and got a SIM unlock code online so I can't go into AT&T and get another one. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

same here

ebay kinda messed me up

im fightint the ebay seller now

heh ..

but i mean some people say that if you add a peice of TAPE tightly on to the MPX200 back so that sim DOES NOT MOVE then it should work good

i had to leave my fone without a battery for 5 days for it to come up once

just weird

very weird

and disapointing

There are two small plastic tabs which hold the SIM card in place, which break off very easily. It could be simply that your SIM card is coming loose- if this is the case and you can't get an exchange, try putting a folded piece of paper/card on top of the SIM card, then tape that down. The battery should then hold the card in place.

i had the same thing, except, mine was way more freaky, i would take the battery out, and the screen would stay on.. but froze, but on...

llike that little orange flower screen, right when it starts up.

but it was working ok, it started acting up when trying to dial, so i turned it off, well it would shut down. all of a sudden green lines went down everywhere, like the matrix. so after like 5 mins i took the bat out. then put it back in, like the first 5 times i used the power button, it turned on fine, but always with sim error. then after that it would turn on at all.

well not voluntarily. i would leave it in the charger, and it would all of a sudden turn on, then turn off ALL BY ITSELF!!! then i would taake the battery out, clean out the sim card spot, blow air everywhere, then right when the battery touched the metal thong things, it automatically turned on. thats not suppose to happen. then it would freeze again with all these ⌠N2♫uW-ÜUÇ┌┘j«{Ç║zÄ■>t╓ΩÄ┘[kbÄç╓]k╖○░$1T♪N2Ç

kinda things, ya know. that wierd lookin s***, and the external time was all distorted, and if i flipped it open the screen would not come on, but the external time was on. so weird and would never power up.

I had a problem with my phone locking up and giving me a SIM card error. I was unable to power down the phone using the power button so I had to remove the battery to shut it down. Then after putting the battery back in the phone would took forever to start up and gave me the same error.

Then after reading this thread I decided that I would check on the small plastic tabs that help hold the SIM card down and found that one of them had been broken off. Don't know how it could have broke, the phone was in its holster the entire day.??

Anyway, I decided to put a "spacer" in between the battery and the SIM card after finding out that taping it down did no good. Placing two small pieces of business card stock over the SIM card before I replaced the battery worked perfectly! My phone is working again. Ya! Hope this helps someone.

It's amazing to find out that this great phone can be rendered completely useless by a 1millimeter piece of plastic! Not too sure about the design of the SIM card holder since mine broke basically by sitting on my dresser. Got make you laugh.
