Guest ratty1968 Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Hi all I have a SPV (mk1) unlocked to O2(payg) it is on the 1.6 os. But i'm currently not able to use GPRS or MMS, i have created new connections as in these forums and copied the settings from the repository section in this forum. But alas still no connection, I know its me and not the phone or sim card as i do get the little box with 'G' in it. I just expect its something i'm doing wrong. is there or has someone got time to write me an idiots guide to this, as if starting from scratch. Thanks in advance. an idiot eager to learn :? RATTY
Guest Will Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 ensure gprs and mms are set up on your o2 account (you will have to ring o2) The settings match those for the xda and are on o2's site. Will ensure gprs and mms are set up on your o2 account (you will have to ring o2)
Guest ratty1968 Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Thanks Will But i have contacted O2 and my sim card has been set up for GPRS. I seem to get a few differnet error messages coming up like 'login information incorrect' or 'network error' i have had the phone working on an Orange card, but just cant work out the O2 bit. Thats why i was hoping for a step by step guide into setting up from scratch. Thanks RATTY
Guest martin Posted January 22, 2004 Report Posted January 22, 2004 Hi ratty1968 I thrown this together  Hopefully it will help a bit. If GPRS has been activated on your account then you should get a top Centre G displayed on your phone. Start by setting up WAP over GPRS first. Programs-Settings-Data Connections Menu-Edit Connections Delete all existing dial-up, proxy and GPRS connections (it helps sometimes). Create proxy connection Description O2 proxy Connects from: The Internet Connects to: WAP network Proxy (name:port): 193.113.200.195 Type: WAP Username: blank Password: blank Create GPRS conenction for WAP Sescription: O2 WAP Connects to: The Internet Access point: payandgo.o2.co.uk User name: payandgo Password: password Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0 Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0 IP address: (blank) In Internet explorer goto Menu-Option-Connections, untick 'Auto detect' and make'select Network: WAP network' Try to connect to wsp://www.google.com/wml If you get 'Unable to connect' then try these APN's for O2 WAP APN: wap.o2.co.uk, Username=geniewap, Password=password APN: wap.o2.co.uk, Username=o2wap, Password=password Hopefully you should now be able to use WAP over GPRS [-o< Create a WAP over GSM Connection Description: O2 CSD WAP Connects to: The Internet Country code: 44 Dialling code: 7712 Phone number: 927927 Username: o2wap Password: password Domain: (blank) If you are using the Genie account then try Username=geniewap, password=password In data conenctions set 'WAP conenction: O2 CSD WAP' and test it by accessing http://www.google.com/wml in Internet Explorer. This time you should get 2 arrows next to signal bars when dialing up. If this all works then set the following in data conenctions. Internet conenction: O2 CSD dialup WAP connection: O2 WAP In internet explorer tick 'Auto detect settings' When accessing sites in Internet Explorer, http://(address) will use the Internet connection (GSM: O2 CSD dial-up) and wsp://(address) will use the WAP connection (GPRS: APN O2 WAP). This is how I had setup my O2 prepaid SIM and it worked OK. At the time I wasn't able to use O2 WAP to access HTML pages but this may have changed. MMS settings Settings-Data Connections - Edit GPRS connections Description : O2 MMS Connects to : Orange MMS Access point: payandgo.o2.co.uk Username: payandgo Password: password * Change the APN, username and password to be the same as O2 WAP * EZOS MMS Programs - Accessories - MMS setup First field: O2 MMS IP: 193.113.200.195 Port: 9201 Mmsc Address: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002 jMMS MMSC: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002 Data Connection: O2 MMS Gateway: WAP 1.0 Gateway IP Address: 193.113.200.195 Port: 9201 Encoding: Binary Good luck :D
