Guest nedge2k Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 Update: Added Activesync screen Also there are some issues when installing. Please READ the rest of topic. Hi all. Just thought id share somthing I was working on last night. Ive knocked up some extra screens for those of you who love Longhorn. The screens are for the Program/Contacts menu, Boot Screen and IA Caller ID templates. There are two downloads which include all screens and a .cab (created in SmarTweak) for either SP2003 or WM2003. If you want to put the screens in manually, the reg setting are as follows: Activesync Screen Path: HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftShellRai:MSSYNCAPP Value: BKBitmapFile = Path of image Boot Screens Path: HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftSplash Screen Values: MSBitmap = Path of first boot screen CarrierBitmap = Path of second boot screen MSShutdownBitmap = Path of first shutdown screen CarrierShutdownBitmap = Path of second shutdown screen Animated Boot There are two images that are "animated" included with the boot screens i.e. Exactly the same but progress bar at different points. *Note: The images must be kept in IPSM/Storage and boot screens work differently for different roms i.e. you may not get all four to work on your phone* Program/Contacts Screen Program Path HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftShellRai:MSStart Value BkBitmapFile = Path of prog screen image Contacts Path HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftShellRai:MSCONTACTS Value BkBitmapFile = Path of contacts screen image Caller ID Templates These go in the caller id templates folder. On my E200, thats: StorageMy DocumentsIA Caller ID Photos For SP2002 thats probably: IPSMMy DocumentsIA Caller ID Photos For it to work correctly you must also put the original Call.gif (from Longhorn SPV Pro) into the phone. Path HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftShellRai:Callalert Value BkBitmapFile = Path of the image Hope you enjoy them. Guest davidt Posted January 21, 2004 Report Posted January 21, 2004 yeah, nice work... love the start screens ditto
Guest Bartman Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 Nice screens.. But how can uninstall them??
Guest shadamehr Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 Can anyone help me here. I'm MAD keen to get the Caller ID template working, as I love the ability to display a picture, but the default themes that it comes with, are, er, somewhat childish, and not professional looking. This Longhorn one of yours is EXCELLENT. Except I can't get it to work. I've even tried the CAB install method but to no avail. In Caller ID contacts, the Longhor background screen WILL display, but looking 'wonky' with lots of white boxes where the number would be displayed. But even then, when I test it by ringing, I get a blank screen as the call rings (by blank, I should say no template, just the normal one with the Orange banner bar along the bottom. PLEASE help me mate, as your theme says "MUST HAVE" but can I hell get it to work. The manual instructions you offer are also a bit thin for me to understand mate, as I suspect the Call alert image is the problem, but I have no previous knowledge of how this works/what it is for. Please help ASAP anyone....
Guest shadamehr Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 AAAARRRGGGGHHH Help.... Now it doesn't work at all. When anyone rings now, no matter who they are, what templates are set etc, all I get is a stadard screen, with a Speaker picture in the bottom corner, when they ring. How can I get it back to normal, or better still, the Longhorn one to work. Argh....
Guest nedge2k Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 Sorry. Didnt explain myself properly. First step, store the image "Call.gif" to the internal memory. Somewhere like "StorageCallalertCall.gif". Then change the reg settings to reflect that change. In HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftShellRai:Callalert change the BKBitmapFile value to StorageCallalertCall.gif or wherever you stored it. Next step, put the files "Longhorn Call 1 and 2.pit" into the Caller ID templates folder NOT the .gif images of the same name (they are for demonstration purposes only). Everything should then work. If not, drop us another post detailing everything u've done an ill investigate. This should work thou. Please note also that if u want to use templates other than mine, you must change the reg value back to nothing or u'll get the longhorn gif coming throu the new template. Hope this helps u out. Guest Bartman Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 It's not that thery not great screens, but how do you uninstall them again???

Alex. Posted from my smartphone! Hi Alex. I managed to sort of work around this by searching for the Full Longhorn theme, and installing all those CABS and the Extras files. This has allowed me to get the Caller ID template to finally work. But 3 things you can maybe help me with now... 1) If ever I decide to uninstall, or simply want to go back to the old original Call alert image/notification or whatever its called, how do I easily do that? 2) The Windows Media Player Longhorn Skin mentioned in the full CAB - it didn't change my Media player - not sure that question is for you to answer though... 3) And finally, one for anyone who can help me - how do I get IA Style Caller ID to change the template used for my callers right accross the board. As I see it, the only way to update the template to this excellent new one, is to manually go into every single contact, and re-assign the photo for them, and only then will it let you update the template it uses. That can't be right can it? If so, I see a rant being sent to IA Style. So anyone got a better answer to manage it? Thanks mate, in advance....
Guest nedge2k Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 If u want to change the prog/contact screens got to StorageSmarTweak and replace the files program.gif or contact.gif with ur own jus make sure they're of the same name. The other four files are the boot screens. To uninstall altogether, go to remove programs an delete Smartweak. Manual installation of all files is recommended as opposed to the .cabs so that when it comes to editing/deleting them, you know what ur doing. Manual installation instructions are in my first post. Guest shadamehr Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 Cheers mate. Any idea how I get your great caller id template to be the one used with all my contacts? Like I say, even though all that I want to change is the background template, and not each person's photo, it seems that a MAJOR failing in IA Caller ID is that in order to do this, and get to the option of changing the template file for each person, you forst need to re-assign the photo for each contact - a nightmare scenario... So am I missing something obvious?
Guest nedge2k Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 In caller id go to options and set default photos. set a default photo and in turn a template. then change the photos for the contacts who's photos u have manually. WMP Skin not my area. dont get why it didnt install though. Make sure its installed to the phone and do a soft reset. Right, my misus is getting a bit pissed off with me now so any other questions i shall ans tomoro. alex. Posted from my SmartPhone!

Right, my misus is getting a bit pissed off with me now so any other questions i shall ans tomoro. alex. Posted from my SmartPhone! Sorry I'm getting you grief mate - your help is appreciated. But alas, I think you missed my point, and just said exactly the same as me. You mention "then change the photos for the contacts who's photos u have manually" - but that seems to hint at what I said, which is my exact problem... Are you saying that for all those (myriad many) contacts where I have set a photo for them uniquely (i.e. their own picture), I have to do exactly what I said, and re-assign the photo for them, all over again, just to be able to access the templates options in the program in order to change the template, even though I don't want to alter the photo? If so, then this is absolutely ridiculous in the extreme (rant at IA Style, not you), and will take me HOURS. Aside from which, as IA Style 'caches' the images once set, and I know this, I have in many cases, deleted the original photo, so couldn't even re-assign it if I wanted to... SO I hope I mis-read you, or IA Style have a lot to answer for... Thanks for your help and a great template though!
Guest nedge2k Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 Well the reason i say it like that is because you probably have more contacts than photos of your contacts, so its easier to set the default photo, then change the photos. However, you could have as many photos as you do contacts, in which case your f**ked. Hope everything else's working ok. Alex.
Guest shadamehr Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 Hi mate - I kinda got to the bottom of it, and thought it might be helpful to share it with you... The only way to get the template and the call alert to work properly, was to use the CAB install method. Doing this of course changes the startup screens, and no disrespect to your own great work, but this is one area where I prefer my own. So I then used SmartTweak SPV to change the startup/shutdown screens back to my own. However, changing those (and nothing else altered in SmartTweak), means that it gets tempramental again in terms of the Caller ID pictures. So for now, I am just using your own startup and shut down screens, until I manually change them back to my own. As a linked issue though, I love the way you chenge the menu background image too. BUT, the one for the menus, is not the best, as it has the longhorn logo on it which conflicts with the text - one of the others that you have done, that are just plain patterned blue screens, would in my opinion, look better. And the issue of using them for the Contacts list background is not your fault, but a bit poor, as when you scroll through the list, the image used gets distorted, in the sense that each line you scroll dowwn off the page, means the top line of the image only, gets redrawn each time. So until this issue is fixed by Orange, then its better I find, not to use an image for the Contact list. So can you tell me how I can MANUALLY change the images for the menu, and the contact list, as i don't want to use the SmartTweak method lest it mess up my Caller ID images again...
Guest nedge2k Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 Basically go to storagesmartweak and delete contact.gif and program.gif and replace with files of the same name. Thats the easy way. Read the first post if you want a bit more control over things.
Guest shadamehr Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 Me again to be a pest Nedge, BUT.... as much as I like the new ActiveSync screen, as the old one wasn't in fitting with the rest of the Longhorn theme (I mean the default white ActiveSnyc screen)... Alas, even though I ran the .cab install, and it ran fine, and rebooted the phone.... My ActiveSync screen is still the white one. Any ideas. I would offer that despite your helpful manual instructions, this is really the sort of thing where users NEED to be able to run a simple installer file to get it all to work. I seem to recall last time that to get it to work, I had to go to a different thread, and find the post about the longhorn makeover for Windows Media Player etc, and run THAT .cab to get this to work, so is there something still missing?
Guest nedge2k Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 Sorry yeah, been a bit lazy. The image is in the Activesync folder in the .zip. Haven't got round to making a proper .cab yet. If i get a chance ill update but for now use the reg. More fun that way anyway
Guest shadamehr Posted February 20, 2004 Report Posted February 20, 2004 Mmm - always avoided installing a Registery Editor on my Smartphone - its the only single tweak tool that I don't want to get into. Give me a shout when you get a CAB done mate too? Oh, and given that I have just spent half the day trying to re-set up my phone, how about a seperate cab that ONLY alters the caller ID screens. You see, many of us have startup, shutdown, and program screens we like ourselves. But your Caller ID screens are arguably the BEST there are. If I run your cab however, it changes the rest of the screens too. Enter, SmartTweak SPV to re-upload MY preferred screens. But OH DAMN - I forgot (and a warning to everyone) as soon as you use SmartTweak to change only your own screens, the thin Orange banner appears on your incoming calls along the bottom of the screen, instead of the caller id photo. So I have just spent all afternoon re-setting this, only to eventually end up right where I was already, in that the active sync screen hasn't altered based on what you have explained anyhow. So PLEASE nedge - how about a dedicated cab file seperate, that changes the call display screen, installs the call.gif file needed, changes all the phone's background screens to your nice Longhorn Blue coloured ones, but DOES NOT alter the startup, shutdown, or program or contacts screens. Now that would be at the top of my list of MUST INSTALL cabs. Can you do this when you have the time? JUST the Blue Longhorn coloured screens such as warning, active sync etc etc, and the Caller ID templates, screens, and .gif file needed, but NOT the startup, shutdown, or contacts and programs menu screens? Go on - please!
Guest nedge2k Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 At present i cant. Dont have the software. Will look around on P2P for what i need and post if i get it done, have alot of assignments due in. Dont see whats so difficult bout puting them in manually, it wont mess ur phone up.
Guest shadamehr Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 That's the problem with you 19 year olds - ou always have so much boring unimportant stuff to hide behind like Universiy, jobs, life etc. ;-) Yeah mate - i might finally take the plunge and download a registry editor. So whats the good one to use?
Guest nedge2k Posted February 21, 2004 Report Posted February 21, 2004 There is only one: PHM Registry Editor
