How to create themes?

Today I got my e200 and I want to create those fantstic themes that you guys can make, but I don't kno how.

Is there a program for it and how do I edit them in a way like DrBlow cobalt theme with the time in a bar?

The best program for editing xml code is just plain old Notepad on the PC! Any image editing software is OK for backgrounds & images.

There is a basic guide to making homescreens - click this plugin - and also a beginners resource for the code & colours HERE.

There is a "how to" document contained in the zip file with my Cobalt theme HERE, but that is a bit more advanced. The code for the e200 Orange plugins (that have the icons) is a bit more complex than the standard microsoft plugins.

Everyone will tell you, the best way to learn about homescreens is to take a theme you like, copy the xml for that theme onto your PC desktop, open it in notepad and have a muck around - thats what I did! :lol:

The xml in the beginners resource is probably a good place to start. I designed it so it's easy to see on the phone where things are, and I put some titles into the xml itself to show what each plugin does. Have a look at that, change some stuff, and see what happens.

x values represent horizontal position, y values represent vertical position. Change some of those and it'll make sense. Then you can start changing other stuff to see what happens. 8)

Thanks for your explanation and help. I'm not a wizard at editing resource codes so it's gonna take some time to understand how the codes work, but eventually I'll get it.
