Guest brnix Posted January 22, 2004 Report Posted January 22, 2004 I am possibly looking for someone to write a program for Smartphone 02/03. I'll give a brief description of what I am looking for and can go into more depth through email if anyone should be interested. The company I work for uses data gathering equipment in the field in numerous locations throughout the eastern U.S. At the present, we have a CE program that will run on the Compaq Ipaq to interface with this equipment through a standard DB9 serial connection and download the data stored in the equipment to the handheld. We also have the standard software to run on regular Windows platforms 98, 2000, and XP. We are exploring the possibility of using the Smartphone platform for this application to help eliminate the need for PDA/Laptop and phone. I am aware of the PDA style phones such as the Samsung I700 but for mobility purposes, the smaller the better. I recently purchased the Samsung I600 and am familiarizing myself with it. I am not sure of what all would be involved or needed to do this with the Smartphone platform and would welcome any suggestions, inquiries, etc. Thank you for your time.

I know that the IPAQ uses the same connector as the SPVE100/E200 but with a slightly different pin out. Depending on if you have the source code for this other program, what language it is written in it might just be the case of changing the GUI or a total re-write of the entire program.
