ROM Upgrade Screw Up

Hi,

I have an imate 7070 (The one Orange has branded as SPV E100). When I got it, it had an unbranded ROM on it... I downloaded and installed the Orange ROM Upgrade 1.6.10. It worked fine, except for the orange stuff and the app lock.. which I eventually managed to remove as well.

Today, I saw imate's rom upgrade on their website Version 15086 with MSN Fix.

During various attempts to change the ROM (as the Orange ROM wouldnt let me change versions), I've managed to kill my phone. The phoen only boots into the Canary screen, where it sez Canary 1.10

Now, if I try run the Upgrade program at the canary screen, on the Orange version, i get a message saying your Rom file is corrupted and download a fresh copy.. tried that, downloaded again, get the same messages..

If I use the Imate rom... I starts the upgrade, I get a message sayign Erasing Old files from the phone... the progress bar goes uptill 10% and then gets stuck. After soemtime, A msg appears saying Upgrade fialed, remove battry, wait 30 secs etc etc.

I'm totally stuck.. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have already hard reset and deleted the IPSM, didnt fix anything.

Also run regedit on the PC and remove any key that has the ref to Orange in it as I had the same problem and thats how I fixed it (can't find rom file).

I have the exact same problem, and that i-mate downgrade trick doesn't seem to work... the phone is rather dead, whenever i turn it on it goes canary, it does the same whenever i place it in the cradle...

when i try to upgrade it, it checks phone informations for hours... that's long enough for me to conclude it will not go any further, tho i haven't tried waiting days yet... :S

any suggestions are welcome, but returning it to the store is too late anyway...

if you can get to canary screen so you can save your phone try this

THIS IS JUST FOR DOWNGRADE FROM ORANGE 1.6

you can just download orange rom 1,35 from

http://www.monolithix.org/SPV_software.html

1)extract rom 1,35 orange

2)extract rom 1,6 orange

3) move NK.nbf from 1,35 to 1,6 and over write orignal

4)turn your phone on in canary screen and connect to computer

5) click on CaUpgradeUt and run orange 1,6 as normal

6) after finishing upgrade take of battery for 30sec

7) turn on you phone in canary screen now you can see that you have 0.98 bootloader DON'T TURN ON AS normally BUT IN CANARY SCREEN

8)connect your phone to computer and run upgrade you want as normally

i've did it many times and some other ppl had also did it so i know it's work BUT YOU ARE DOING IT YOUR ON RISK
