Guest Gavink151 Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Hello! I dare say this is a daft question but it occurred to me today when plugging in the USB cradle for my SPV for the first time: Anyway, one of my PC speakers sits right next to the cradle where the phone sits - I imagine its magnetically shielded but are mobile screens or other phone parts suseptible to magnetic fields? e.g. like a monitor would be by exposure to an unshileded magnet? I imagine not since the display on a phone works very differently than a CRT such as that in a standard TV/monitor... Anyway, just curiuous :-) Gav
Guest MECX Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 there are lots of sensitive components in the phone that could be damaged by a strong magnetic field---it wont effect the screen in the same way a CRT but could damage componants that supply the image (eg transistors) my phone is next to my pc speaker but i know they are sheilded so its fine--just dont put it on top of the big ones in a club
Guest siu99spj Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 To be honest I'd be more worried aboyut the phone affecting the speaker rather than the other way around! What with it continually blatting out microwaves... But as to any effects, there shouldn't be any serious effects, even if the speaker wasn't shielded. The phones built so that things like that don't cause any damage (Like the CRT and magnet effect you mentioned). PS: If you REALLY want to screw up a TV (Old CRT), get a pocket TV and place the aerial in the centre of the big TV. Your image will just disappear (If its old enough). It might work with other aerials, but unsurprisingly, I haven't tried...
Guest zeta101 Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 my e100 makes my monitor flicker very slightly if i am just about to get a call or sent/recieve a message, i normally keep mt phone away from it though
Guest Gavink151 Posted January 29, 2004 Report Posted January 29, 2004 hehe yeah, I notices the flickering effect! hmm wonder what they are doing to our brains
