Guest midnight Posted January 23, 2004 Report Posted January 23, 2004 Techdigest report: Sierra Wireless has confirmed that its innovative Voq Professional smartphone, which we have featured before, will debut in the UK later in the spring. The device, which runs Microsoft’s Windows Mobile operating system, has a USP in that it boasts a full QWERTY keyboard that users access by pulling open the flap on the front of the phone that also houses its numeric keypads. The handset features a 200MHz processor, 32MB of RAM, a 200x176 pixel colour screen, and an SD expansion card slot. While cut-down versions of Microsoft applications like Internet Explorer and Outlook are included there is however no integrated digital camera or Bluetooth.
Guest yoos Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 That's a shame if they release it with no bluetooth or camera.
Guest londonlad Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 well worth it if it can handle the snes emulator
Guest morpheus2702 Posted January 24, 2004 Report Posted January 24, 2004 I really don't get this phone at all. I mean, though are touting the Voq as a a business device, yet: a) 200MHz processor - do you really need that if you are not playing games? or:  Not using a camera with it to record video? c) No Bluetooth? Yep the road warrior is going to love that omission. On the plus side, the Qwerty keypad is a sure fire winner. Has this been launched in the U.S. yet?
Guest londonlad Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 i would wait for this phone if i could be sure that i wouldnt snap the keyboard in half by accident
Guest Brody Posted January 25, 2004 Report Posted January 25, 2004 Its not the future phone for me, i'm not interested in the full keyboard to be honest and that's the only selling point I can see...
Guest Gorskar Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 Its just the ugliest phone outside of a nokia Lab thats all... Keyboard and processor are nice... Camera is not really needed as they are touting this as a buisness phone but the ommission of bluetooth is a crime!
Guest Paul [MVP] Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 I chatted to the guys from Voq, and played with the phone, and USA people really don't realise how popular BT is in Europe! P
Guest Coucou Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 Bit like text then, I mean the americans not really using it, do you know if texting works properly or is it the spv all over again? :? Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest sleepnow75 Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 Hmm, its nice to see another smartphone out there (keep 'em coming!), but -- if i walked into a shop and saw this Voq stood next to an SPV E200, there would be no contest really.
