New MPX200 user

I have just got my MPX200 via eBay and is currently waiting to have it unlocked. There are some questions I have which I believe all you experts out there could help me.

1) Is there possibilities where an unlocking code does NOT exist for a phone? (That was the result of my first attempt, luckily, will be refunded. currently waiting for the result of my 2nd attempt with www.unlockITnow.com.)

2) Any unlocking alternatives?

3) Is the firmware useful? Should I attempt to flash the phone? Would some features be lost? Do I need to make installation of any applications from the Companion CD after the flashing?

If they send you an unlock number it uniquely matches your IMEI. IF the phone was new production and not in the unlock server data base it would probably just be a matter of time for someone to get the code. I wouldn/t mess with the firmware flash unless you really know what you are doing. I am using the original ATTWorthless Service firmware with modified hompage etc on T-Mob and it all works great and no sign of ATT on the phone unless you dig way deep. I have not seen on any of these forums where anyone has stated that a firmware flash cured anything except for adding the suspect mms function which seemed not ready for prime time. If a flash to 2003 comes out there is always an outside chance that it will look for the original firmware to verify the correct phone etc.

Get your unlock and play with the ideas on this forum and others before you go to a flash. Just a newbie with an opinion. :lol:
