I know this topic has been discussed before. But still, I want an answer to my following question:

Is it possible to convert a symbian sis file into a smartphone cab file so that we can install the irRemote on our lovely phones.

For those of you who dont know what irRemote is: Its a way to remote control youre tv, radio etc. from youre phone. IT WORKS perfectly on a Nokia. I saw it with my own eyes last night !

I dont want any speculations on whether the signal would be too weak or something. I just want the program installed on my E200. On the internet you can read that the program has been made for Siemens Smartphone as well. http://download.pdassi.net/product.php?pf=...an&prod_id=9820

Please help

best regards

That was meant tongue-in-cheek.

I saw from your joining date and post count that you are not a newbie, so I didn't want to patronise you with the usual routine of "not strong enough", blah blah blah.

I just meant to say that this is one of those topics that keeps rising; despite the fact that we are no nearer to getting an IR program for the Smartphone platform. The reasons why have been discussed at great length in http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=4745>other threads (which you mentioned in your first post).

When I saw the subject I just thought “Here we go again  ”. I didn’t intend to be rude.

To answer your question politely, no it is not possible to convert a Symbian sis file into a Smartphone cab file. We can't install Symbian software on to our phones, in the same way that you can't install Mac programs on to a PC.

The only way we will get an IR program for the Smartphone is if someone is able to write it specifically.

ive seen similar remote programmes for pocket pc and most of those units have the same problem distance, and on the spv battery power, plus the problem is there are soo many tv's ect you would have to update the app so much it would have to be a commercial product and then you would have to sit so close to the unit it would then be easyer to change the channel yourself,go get a one of those nice cool one for all remotes

My apologies as well. I guess I was a bit oversensitive.

Thanks for your reply mate. To let you know, I took matters in my own hand and created a program that converts sis files into cab files. It was easy...

Just kidding !!

I contacted the company that makes irRemote and asked if they would make a version that works on SPV.
