Guest A36yKA Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 Oh...why there is no answering machine software for ms smartphone? :D Something like SmartAnswer for symbian ( http://my-symbian.com/7650/applications/ap...q=2&fldAuto=617 ) would be great! And if it would be free... ehm...
Guest scott2eyes Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 How is that different from the normal voicemail you get on the network?
Guest [email protected] Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 I think you could make it very much different. Individual outgoing messages for every incoming call. If mum calls it will say "Hi mum, call You back". Incoming messages stored as soundfiles, maybe even syncable like mail and other messages. If mum leaves a message inviting You and your girlfriend for dinner, forward the soundfile (maybe even as an MMS) to your girlfriend.
Guest A36yKA Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 How is that different from the normal voicemail you get on the network? You don't have to pay for it  f.e. I have free incoming calls, but I have to pay 0.25$ for each voicemail message I listen to :?
Guest [email protected] Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 This would actually be a step back in time 5-10 years. Remember the old answering machines with micro cassettes? This thought made me think of another possible feature, screening calls. The software could play the incoming message through the speaker as it it is recorded, allowing you to screen calls 80's-style.
Guest blewer Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 Different messages for different people would be cool  Having a different message for co-workers, clients, friends etc
Guest [email protected] Posted January 29, 2004 Report Posted January 29, 2004 One downside to this though. Since the phone is actually picking up the call silently, it will need to indicate this with a flashing LED or something, so that you don't try to make a call while it's recording.

"A.M.: Receiving call from ****" on the external LCD maybe? 8) WE WANT ANSWERING MACHINE! ANSWERING MACHINE! ANSWERING MACHINE! :D :(
Guest humz Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 This is the program you are all wishing for: Autopilot - Handango Imagine how good it would be if someone made a version of this for the smartphone platform. I would pay good money. Would anyone else be interested?
Guest [email protected] Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 I'm in! But I've heard there's a restriction in the OS that doesn't allow software to pick up calls. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
Guest humz Posted February 12, 2004 Report Posted February 12, 2004 If anyone can think of a good reason not to make a program like this I'd love to hear it. Otherwise, lets make it happen people!
