Guest dgoutz Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004  To be honest this is more a question than a topic who know more about these technologies. It hasn't been long since the day I (accidentally) discovered that there are mobile phones using windows mobile platforms. I am a potential buyer of a smartphone and I do not know if I should purchase one now or be patient for a certain amount of time to buy a 3G phone and when that time comes all smartphones will be rather overcome(older technology). Guest mcwarre Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 Welcome to the site :( I suppose you could wait but when 3G becomes widespread 4G will be close, so wait for that. Then again 5G and interstella space travel must also be close, so better off waiting for that. :D The average life of a mobile phone design is probably 18 months max. The smartphone will not be out of date by then................ I have a MPx200 (smartphone) and a Motorola A835 (3G). Trust me, apart from the obvious 2.5G/3G difference, the MPx is streets ahead of the A835. Now as and when they bring out a smartphone on 3G? Nice.... But not for a while yet
Guest Bonzo Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 I may be wrong here but I seem to remember hearing somewhere that Orange were looking at using an MS smartphone based OS for the release of their own 3G phones!!!
