The new beta version is available. It includes the following new features:

- Support of BT transfer. Note that there is some troubles with BT. It's impossible to send to a device that ask for authentication on each connection and sometime it's slow when stoping bluetooth discovery. It's the same troubles that you can face when sending contacts.

- It's possible to go to parent directory when browsing by pressing key 0.

- Some information about the current highlighted item is displayed at bottom of the screen. The content of the selection has been moved to the top of the screen.

- You can display the Properties dialog by pressing key 5.

- Infrared transfer has been rewritten and should be more compliant with other devices.

Still under development:

- It will be possible to send several files at a time (content of selection) by IR or BT.

- In Open with dialog, it will be possible to associate an extension with a given application. ichier avec une extension.

I'm sure there'll be the usual beta bugs, but come on, I mean Bluetooth sending, just like the phone should support out of the box...

Excellent!

Cheers guys!

Just to let you know that transfer may fail via BT to phones like T610 or T68. It seems that the Obex API doesn't set the MTU correctly, although it does it correctly when using IR. As we can't get the MTU with Obex API, we actually have 3 solutions: either we set a minimal speed that works with all device (but it will be more than 10 times slower when sending files to a Pocket or a PC), or we hope next Orange update will fix this (beta 1.60 we received doesn't) or we ask the user if he want to send the file at full speed or not. We will probably choose last solution if next beta from Orange doesn't fix this problem.

Thanks to all for your kind messages we received by email.

I dunno if this is a bug, or just me!! But I installed the new software last night, and after doing so, I could not read my SD card properly. Sometimes it would show the list of folders, but wouldnt let me access any of them, other times it would only show one or two folders. When I tried to put a cab file on the storage card and run it, I got a msg saying the installation failed due to inadeqaute system permissions.

The bug was not the same each time, if I reinserted the card, it would read all the folders the first time, but wouldnt let me access them.

I have uninstalled the new version, & returned to version 1.05b, which works perfectly.

Hope you can solve this coz the new version looks sweet!

If you need more info, please let me know!

We didn't change anything in the core Smart Explorer function, such as read and/or writing. Thus, I don't understand why you have these troubles only with new version. Are you using an E200? What is the manufacturer of the SD card? Thanks in advance for your help. If you prefer, you can contact us directly at [email protected]

Yup - e200 & a Lexar media 64MB SD card.

Everything is back to normal with version 1.05b, so I guess that rules out the possibility it was something else to do with my phone??

forgive me if i'm being stupid, but does it actually support bluetooth file RECIVING, i can only see IR.

Bluetooth file send works great between phone and PC.

sd card seems to be working fine on mine e200 with 128mb Lexar.

Thanks

As BT receiving is handle by Smartphone 2003 and works fine, we didn't implement it in Smart Explorer. When a file has been received, it is available in StorageMy Documents. Maybe we could add a command (if supported by the OS) to activate BT receiving in Smart Explorer.

Smart Explorer is the most used app on my phone.

This version is even better.

Great! Keep up the good work

Sending to my Nokia N-Gages work fine, and that's more than good enough for me, as I can then use the N-Gage to forward on to just about any BT device!

So THANKS guys!

As you also mention, RECEIVING files on the phone is no problem already, when sent from another phone etc such as an N-Gage.

But I CANNOT send an image to my E200 from my PC though, as it fails every time - usually with an FTP not supported on the Smartphone error.

But I suspect this is most likely due to the Smartphone implementation of Bluetooth more than anything else.

So well done guys - cheers!

The BT FTP service is not implemented on the E200. DLL seems to have been removed by HTC (as it's well documented in Platform Builder) and there is nothing in the registry. All the keys related to that service are emply. Actually, you have to send files using the PIM File transfer service (we use that service too for sending files with Smart Explorer).

Agree. Can not send files to my T610 here.

A command would be good yeah. although i have never got it to work, have tried repeatdly beween my e200 and a p900 and it allways fails to recive the file, doesn't appear to even try to recive.

Is this is a stupid question, or would it be possible to track down this DLL, replicate the missing registry keys and re-activate the BT FTP service? It would be really useful !

finally i think its a nice programme iam a registered owner , and i think as i have bluetooth phone it might be fun.

i find this programme the most usefull and use it all the time to make shortcuts as the max installed progs is 60 appz/games /ect on the spv before the remove programmes screen goes blank and the only way then is to remove the appz with the active sync,

High Smartphoners

Tested awile now and everything works fine between p900 and e200.

No problems encounterd.

Only thing is , i cant seem to recive big files on my e200 via Bluetooth.it asks me to save but dosnt save the file in My Dokuments or anywere els on the Phone.

This has nothing to do with Smart Explorer,.......

the nice thing about the programme is its free to everyone only every now and then do non registered owners get the nag screen abit like winzip its for me a good prog which i bought as i wanted to support a programme that helps all, even those a bit short at the moment ,maybe more should do the same as me and help them to develope a more fantastic app in the future   come on this app and its sp task manager are good without the force buy factor ,surely they disserve your support look at companys like pocket music who charge for an unperfect app and a lot too

I'll be willing to pay for it if you get that universal bluetooth implemented (dont care about speed as its only small files like pics that get mostly transfered anyway). Also BT recieve needs implementing in the same way so that phone like the 610 can send files to me which fails through 2003s built in recieve method. If I was you I wouldnt bother with an annoying screen asking the user if they want to use the slower connection, its not like you're going to say no anyway.

We have tried several SD cards yesterday. Didn't get any trouble with SanDisk and Panasonic ones. But a noname one had strange behaviors, not only in Smart Explorer, but with Active Sync too.

Regarding sending to T610, we are still investigating. Maybe there is some undocumented functions that could help us switch the speed automatically. Otherwise, we will use a slow connection by default, with an option to activate full speed. You then don't have to worry about the speed. We will implement something that doesn't bore you everytime you send a file

Finally, we will try again to receive files from a T610. Will let you know.

Just tried receiving an image from a T610. No problem at all. Bluetooth has to be on Discoverable (for the E200 to be seen by the T610) and the option "Receive incoming beam" has to be checked. The image has been saved in StorageMy Documents successfully.

So, you think its just to do with my SD card? Thing is, it works fine with everything else.
