Guest sgraham Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 I dont know how much this helps anyone and for me i'm still deciding on my next course of action but I got the following info from Orange tonight. Orange are now confirming that the buzzing is a known problem with the E200 SPV, they believe the buzzing may be caused by the way the handset is communicating with the network and seem to think they can fix this without software upgrades; claiming that the tests they have carried out using altered software have worsened the handsets reliability. Orange are now advising that new handsets will not fix this problem, Im not sure if this means they will no longer dish out new handsets. The best is yet to come....yes you've guessed it, there is no ETA on a fix. The optimist in me says at least they are admitting it, but on the flip side I threatened to show them 4 phones with the problem before they'd listen plus I still got a buzzy phone with no promise of a fix....I'd be interested to find out if they are admitting this to all customers...........
Guest marauderz Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 I have no Buzzing on my XPhone (granted it is a different piece of hardware) but is the buzzing sound you guys are refering to same as what you'd hear if you put the phone close to a speaker when you're using it? I only get buzzing noise like that when I'm in a SEVERELY signal deprived area.
Guest bikespod Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 marauderz- nope. thats not the buzz we all have. Sgraham- I was told this a while back, only not so much detail. They just said that they recognised it was a problem and they were looking into it. That said they have still simply dropped my action without any feedback or telling me. I haven't been offered a p900 like one poster on the "how many owners waiting......" thread. I rekon I'm at the stage when I might well consider this option, if it were offered. I've had enough of this crappy call quality. Think I'll give it a go tomorrow.
Guest ferret Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 Well I've just this second got off the phone from a tech support callback! They've never heard of this problem - lying or a serious lack of communication Sending me a new handset after they've received current one in a jiffy bag from me. It's only a day old after a free upgrade. I am seriously considering sending it back for good under the 7 day return policy. Which is a damn shame because if it didn't buzz I'd be very happy. I'd probably even put up with the buzzing if they admitted it was a problem and a fix would be available sometime. Ah well, rant over Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest drblow Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 Its very odd how some customers get treated entirely differently to other customers, over the same issue!!?? If they asked me to send a phone back to them I'd laugh! The delivery man takes the old phone when he gives you the new one! I've had 4 replacements and have never been asked to do that. Strange!
Guest peekie Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004  i dont know on this buzzing problem it seems to be more local than general as in hilland at home i have a crap signal and no buzzing but down in belgium today i got a call and it buzzed and the sound was very tinny i have until now not seen the problem. one thing i noticed is the sound was bad on the old gsm network on the orange 1900 its ok but on the other its not
Guest dangallo Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 I am also getting the buzzing problem, but I can't see how it's related to a network problem, because the buzzing goes away if the speaker is pushed firmly against my head.. Wouldn't this indicate it's a problem with the assembly of the phone, or is the buzzing you're talking about another type of buzz? :?
Guest sgraham Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 Its the buzz u get from the 150 IVR lady....dial it and hear it. I think its a shambles that they are denying it to some people, one thing I have notices it the Customer Service advisors have all heard about it now that Orange Technical have put on my record that its a known problem. Wheras before I had a girl tell me she knew one person with a E200 but they didnt have the buzzing noise during calls...I said "eh what buzzing noise through calls, all I told you was I had poor sound quality on calls" I missed a call from Orange last night and they have promised to call me tonight so I'll keep you posted.
Guest martin Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 Maybe there was a bee in the room when when the IVR lady made her recordings
Guest dangallo Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 Yeah it's the same buzz as when i phone 150 too. Strange though that when i push the speaker firmly against my head, the buzzing stops... :?
Guest sgraham Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 Well guys, im bailing out. I spoke to orange tonight and they are going to offer me a P900 with a £100 goodwill gesture. So the SPV is going back tomorrow and my P900 will arrive the week after next after all the paper work has gone through....wait a minute that means I have to use the original SPV for the time being DOH, suppose it will be weird living without the buzz. Maybe they should scrap the Voyager title and call it the HTC Fridge
