PacketVideo 3.3 - Does it work with E200/Qtek8080 ? (Survey)

Hello,

as the response to my posting

http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...p=363233#363233

in Forum "Main" was not too big, I try to call upon this topic here again.

Please check out for my main posting by clicking on the above link (as I won't repeat myself here again).

Some new findings:

The media player on the Qtek8080 can also handle .mp4 files.

This is how I made a .mp3 clip my preferred ringing tune -> by converting it as .mp4 and copying to my 8080.

(Note: The media player, which handles the ringing tones unfortunately can't handle .mp3 files.)

When I installed the PacketVideo 3.3 (note again: the utility is called: PAcketVideo, not POcketVideo !) and tried to enter an URL to a streaming site, like rtsp://....../cam.mp4 I found no menue within PacketVideo where I could enter such an URL.

Question:

Is this option not available within the Smartphone version of the PacketVideo Player ?

Or is there something wrong with the posted version of PacketVideo ?

Or is it not compatible with Smartphone 2003 OS ?

Now, when I tried to save that URL as a Bookmark and invoke it from the PocketIE the PacketVideo Player opens up but keeps black and no video stream is shown.

(Note: The video stream itself works because I can access it from my Desktop PC using the desktop version of PacketVideo.)

One of the reasons could be that no (automatic) GPRS session is started like when you launch a normal URL (you see it by the "G" appearing on the upper right corner on the screen.)

Question:

Why is no GPRS session invoked ?

One last effect, which is also quite an issue with PacketVideo:

After installation my .mp4 ringing tone could no longer be played by the built-in media player (obviously because now the mp4 extension was linked to the PacketVideo Player, which expets a video stream...)

Upon de-installation and linking back .mp4 to the media player (IA Album that is afair) .mp4 ringing tones again worked.

Now: As I heard that PacketVideo is installed by default on all Orange-branded E200 handsets I'd like to know from those people, who have such a branded phone the following:

1. Is the PacketVideo Player really installed on your phone ?

2. Does it work properly ?

3. Which version is installed (check the "About" screen)

4. Is the Player also supplied on the CD which came with your phone ?

5. How can you access streaming URLs ?

6. Can you invoke such a link from the IE or out of a Bookmark ?

7. Does the PV Player show you an option for directly entering an URL (like the DesktopPC version does) ?

Perhaps we can together clarify all these question and compile a short overview of what is possible with which OS (Smartphone 2002/Smartphone 2003).

Any feedback ?

Regards

Gerhard
