I forgot about putting my phone on charge yesterday, anyway this morning when i went to put it on charge the screen was blank, so i put it on charge and had a look later, it's now stuck on the sunrise screen it wont turn off, so i can't do a hard reset - Help!

At least the battery should hold some charge now

If the phone gets stuck on the sunset screen then it's always best to leave it for a few minutes just in case the phone is busy rebuilding itself.

If you get no luck after 5-10 minutes then pull the battery, remove the SD card, replace the battery and reboot. Again leave the phone booting at least 5 minutes.

If it still fails then follow the hard reset instructions for deleting IPSM and reboot.

I've done what you said, After i took out the battery the sunrise screen just sorta faded, didn't leave the screen at all, then when i put the battery back in it the sunrise screen is still there, i can't get the phone to turn off at all.

Thanks very much for your advice, but is there anything more i can do ?

Thats strange :?

You don't still have the mains cable or USB cable plugged in do you ?

No, it's not connected to either of those, although i did try it in the cradle to see if i could get access to it, but it wasn't detected

That's really spooky 8-[

Make sure that the phone is not connected to any cables, remove the battery and leave it for say 10 minutes before putting the battery back on.

The phone has gone faulty and that's what your insured for. Honestly, if you phone Orange customer services they should send you a new one.

yes, i phoned them... he suggested i take the battery out again, then replace it , not to swtch it on but to put it back on charge for a while and call them back in the morning if it hasn't solved the problem... so fingers crossed!!!

Thanks again!

Just, query...

I didn't think you could recharge an SPV if it's not actually switched on. So you would have switch it on to charge it anyway. Am I being dense?

Hey all :O)

Felt I had to reply to this thread as I've just got an E200 and this triggered alarm bells in my head.

Does this mean these things are susceptible to the same threat as IPAQs? I had (have got at the bottom of a drawer, dead) a 3650 and left it at home while i went on holiday - got back and my £400 baby was stone dead due to battery drain. At the time the battery replacements were rare and expensive, now I don't see the point in paying £60-70 for it as all majority of it's functionality is in my phone ;o).

Will this phone die a horrible death if I leave it without charging for too long? Every day use is no problem as I have cradle at home, charger at work etc, but if I go away to friends and forget to take the charger, coupled with apparantly low battery life I don't want to be worrying about the damn thing keeling over on me :)

Nice to join you guys,

Kee :O)

Sorry for not replying to this post earier (must have missed it somehoe :?)

As you do not mention in the first post what phone you have I can explain about an old bug in the SPV which may be carried over to other models, but this is not confirmed.

Any way the bug in the SPV was if you allowed the phone to run too low using an app,ie media player and the phone turns off, trying to recharge the phone would not work until you removed the battery plug the charger in then replace the battery and reboot.

The other problem more simple reason for your problem is you may have had is a dead battery.
