Built-in email client -- there must be something better

I am surprised at how limited the built-in email client is. I have a friend who uses an email client that comes with the Visto email synching service and it is much better -- but his runs on the Treo 600.

Are there any 3rd party email clients that are out there? I took a quick look and didn't see any.
