Guest Skunkchild Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 Just wanted to say that you seem to be able to use any 32x32 256 color windows icons in the custom icon.exe files. I used ResHacker to replace icons in the recent examples given by DrBlow and Carlos P - good work fellas. I've now added a homescreen called Stolen Mobile to the download section with my own icons. The image shows the icons found in the attached hicons.exe file.hicons.ziphicons.gif
Guest drblow Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 You can use any icons you want! Just put 'em in the exe file, and the put the relevant numbers into the xml. And that reshack is a nifty little tool for taking advantage of this tweak for icons - makes it accessible to everybody, without having to use the SDK and stuff.
Guest mon_nom_est_arnaud Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 Hi I used ResHack to replace icons in blow's cause I cannot use eVC++. I haven't any problem to put these icons on a curtom homescreen, but I can't use them to customize shortcut files : I need to know each icon's id number and I dunno how :-( I've seen htm files' icon id in iexplore.exe was -1003, how can I get the icon id I need in my custom exe file ? thx ;-) Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest Skunkchild Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 I'm not sure what you mean - the icon references in the xml just point to the icon number shown thru reshacker.
Guest mon_nom_est_arnaud Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Yes that's what I mean, but how can I get the right number ?
Guest Skunkchild Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Just edit the references in the homescreen xml. For example in the first shortcut in DrBlow's Cobalt theme the icon is number 3 as shown in reshacker. Refered to as icon="103" in the xml.
Guest mon_nom_est_arnaud Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 Hmm  Let's start again :D Maybe I'm off-topic, I don't wanna had custom icons on my homescreen, I want to customize a ".lnk" shortcut file.
