Guest adriandaz Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 Hi folks, just unlocked my E100 usung OTA. I would like to get a few cool apps installed (such as explorer) can someone please tell me how I go aboit installing an application? thanks, Adrian.
Guest adriandaz Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 Found the great Xmail application, be damned if I can install it though
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 There are a few different types of installation methods. Some come with the standard Windows installer program which you just run from your PC with the phone connected via ActiveSynch. Follow the instructions on your PC and phone screens. Others are in .CAB format. Copy these to somewhere on your phone you can get access to. For example use ActiveSynch explorer to create a folder IPSM/Windows/Start Menu/To Be Installed and copy the CAB into there. Disconnect and restart your phone and using the Programs menu go to the folder. The CAB file should be in there - click on the icon to run the installer. Some others are just an .exe file. Put these on your Storage Card (Programs folder say) and right-click, copy, go to IPSM/Windows/Start Menu and right-click, paste shortcut. I don't have x-mail but assume it is covered by one of these. That's basically it
Guest adriandaz Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 thanks, managed to get going
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 When installing .cab if you place them in IPSMWindowsStart MenuAccessories you do not need to restart your phone  just go to ProgramsAccessories on your phone and it will be there waiting for you to install it.
Guest stuF Posted February 4, 2004 Report Posted February 4, 2004 i find it easier to put the .cab file in the /storage card/2777/orange??? or whatever it is. that way the orange add-on assistant activiates for the installation. Stu
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 5, 2004 Report Posted February 5, 2004 The only problem with that is that you will need to copy the orange install app on each of your storage cards. One thing I did not mention above is that when installing apps you should choose the storage card as the installation path to save as much storage space on the phone as possible.
