MPx200 has reset itself after soft reset!!!!! Ahhhhh!!!

For those of you following other threads about memory issues, you might remember that I was advised to do a hard reset on my phone, which I did.

Everything was great, and after I unlocked it and installed all my programs back on again. Fine

Last night though, was the first time I switched the phone off. When I came to switch it back on again, it took ages, and then promptly gave me loads a messages.

The homescreen had reverted to the standard out of the box profile, none of my programs would work, 'cause it thought it was still locked, my MMS facility has gone, all my custom profiles were changed back to the default ones etc. Almost as if a hard reset had been done!

However, things like custom ringtones for people were still intact. But things like Pocket TV suddenly thought it was un-registered, even though it was fine before I switched it off. No programs have been deleted, just, not available to the system.

Any ideas??!!!!

Matt.

Mine did this too.

At the time I put it down to my activities post-hard-reset - I tried to reinstall/tweak as much as poss before doing a reboot. In the end I think I just confused it and on it's next reboot it did what yours has done.

It's not good, but I got round it by hard resetting and reinstalling everything again, but rebooting inbetween each piece of software I installed - and yes, I really should have known better and done it that way the first time

This is a known 2002 bug it's commonly known as a Partial Reset

I was arranging a job interview the other day when my phone died

and on rebooting did the Partial Reset.

It happens on the E100 and SPV as well.

Yup, mine did a "partial" reset the other day too. My battery was low and I was playing a game. Then the battery finally died during my game and when I plugged it in and turned the phone back on, I got the partial reset. Programs installed to my SD card still worked fine, but any programs installed to my phone memory had to be either reregistered or reinstalled. Took about 10 or 15 mintues to get everything set up again. I suggest writing down all of your serial numbers and settings you like in case this happens.

Thanks everyone. Never heard of this particular 'feature' of 2002 before!

Not quite, this has been caused by things like low battery and dodgy

xml code in home screens.

Mine was caused by letting the battery run out during a game. If your battery is low, the best thing to do is immediately get the phone charging. Weird stuff happens when you let the mpx200s completely drain the battery out.
