Guest jimbou Posted January 28, 2004 Report Posted January 28, 2004 I don't know what happened in my qtek 8080, but when i go settings->remove programms , nothing is there. The last thing that i installed was smartinsertv2.0,and now i can't uninstall anything. Anyone know what to do? I don't want to do a hard reset again.........................
Guest James Posted January 29, 2004 Report Posted January 29, 2004 this has happend to me on my first SPV, if you want to uninstall a program either:- 1. install the rpogram again then it will appear in the list again. 2. manualy delete the program from the start menu and program files using active sync explorer.
Guest jimbou Posted January 29, 2004 Report Posted January 29, 2004 Nothing happens if i reinstall something. It doesn't appear in the list. If i just erase it from startmenu and program files,it will not be completely uninstalled. Anyone knows what to do?I did a hard reset, but after a while it happened again
Guest James Posted January 29, 2004 Report Posted January 29, 2004 sounds like more than something easy... might be the phone? backup battery? and if its not fixed after a hard reset then i dont think anythig else is going to fix it. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest jimbou Posted January 29, 2004 Report Posted January 29, 2004 Could it be the sd card? I didn't have any card for 10 days and this never happened. As soon as i put the sandisk 256mb ,it happened twice!
Guest James Posted January 29, 2004 Report Posted January 29, 2004 could be a clue.. try to format the card with a pc card reader or using task manager on the phone Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest kjk Posted January 29, 2004 Report Posted January 29, 2004 or it could be any app you hav installed on your sd card
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Have you tried using the ActiveSynch Tools method ? The phone's Settings method stops working after you've installed so many things
Guest jimbou Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Have you tried using the ActiveSynch Tools method ? The phone's Settings method stops working after you've installed so many things What do you mean? What is the Activesync Tools method? Is there a limit about the number of installed things?
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 I don't think there is a limit to how many things you can install but the phone's internal Add / Remove Programs tool stops working after 30 (?) games or applications have been loaded. When you have the phone connected to your PC at the first box - Microsoft ActiveSynch - you have the File / View / Tools / Help buttons at the top. Click on Tools and you get the choice of Options or Add / Remove Programs. Choose Add / Remove Programs and a list of everything you have ever installed by installer or CAB or HME will be displayed. Some will be ticked and some will not but everything currently installed will have a tick in its box. Untick anything you want to remove from the phone and click OK. ActiveSynch will then remove those programs, telling you which it is doing. When you have removed everything you don't want and assuming you now have less than 30 (?) things loaded you should be able to use the phone's Settings tool  Hope this makes sense

I had no idea about that option, neither for the 30 applications limit Thanks again!
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 30, 2004 Report Posted January 30, 2004 Very happy to have helped get you sorted  I don't actually know the exact limit, but anyway...
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 31, 2004 Report Posted January 31, 2004 the phone's internal Add / Remove Programs tool stops working after 30 (?) games or applications have been loaded. Close  It's a known bug, if you have 50+ apps etc installed the list disappears then when you go below they return as if by magic :D
Guest Disco Stu Posted February 1, 2004 Report Posted February 1, 2004 This really should have been sorted in WM2003. Oh and another thing ~ when I remove programs by either method the temp files are not removed from the App Mgr folder. Is this a bug and can they be deleted safely ? Posted from my SmartPhone!
