Strange quirk with speakerphone and MPx200

Hi -- I'm just recently grabbed this phone and really want to love it. However, it's quirks are beginning to irk me.

First of all, my headset plug broke. Guess it really was weak....

Now for the stranger quirk. I can dial out w/ the headset in my ear and it will connect, however I will not hear the other party speak. And whenever I press a button, or do anything, that will result in the UI going "beep" or playing any sort of sound, a glimpse of the other party's sound will come through. This is also happening if I attempt to use the speakerphone (I know...hold down green button)/

Now the wackiest thing -- I went to WMP, and played a song WHILE I was in the call. Then I can hear perfectly. I stop the song, nothing; I start the song, I hear the other party.

So has anyone else experienced this problem?

PS: Receiving calls on the headset or speakerphone is no problem whatsoever.

WOW... That is strange.

Is this recent or on-going? Have you tried a re-set (soft only).

Do you put the headset in before making the call or during?

Run Task Manager and check that there isn't anything running that could bu99er about with the sound drivers.

I'll try and emulate it, but don't think I have had anything remotely like this.

Reset: yup tried it. Just pulled a hard reset -- it's still there. Soft resets -- I do lots of those when the phone freezes .

Recency: I got the phone recently but I've been able to reproduce the phenomenon 100%

Headset: doesn't matter -- I can plug it in during the middle, or have it in already.

Thanks for your help...this is very frustrating....

wait, wait, wait...how many times have your phone froze?

if all these problems occur, why don't you get another one? im sure its under a warranty or return policy of some sort.

Good point, looks like a genuine case to me, should be no problem!

felixdd, make sure you do get a replacement, too many people in this country simply make do. If you don't pester suppliers when they deliver faulty goods then there would never be any quality control and the country would be run on shoddy goods.

Let us know how you get on mate.

Matt.

This is the interesting part, did the plug break when it was in the phone?

if so whatever caused it to break may have caused your other problems.

When I said headset plug -- I meant the rubber tab that "plugs" it up when you're not using a headset. Sorry for the misnomer there!

As for return -- I'd like to, but I bought this phone from someone else. I couldn't wait for Rogers here in Canada to finally carry it, despite saying they'll do so all the way from November last year. Heck by the time they carry it, you guys'd be using (or complaining) about the MPx220!

Freezing: it's only froze a few times...but I think I was pushing it too hard. I used to have a PPC, so I'm sort of used to opening a few programs before I begin shutting them down. I've gotten into the (good) habit of closing programs that I don't use -- even if it's only 1. I've heard it hurts battery life to leave them running.

Aside from little quirks, I really love this phone -- definitely more appropriate for me than my PPC . Of course, I'd still like to see if anyone can come up with some sort of solution for my problem....
