id like to know how many hours the e200 would last without the 1. caller app. alone or without the 2. caller app and without the sd card in.

so you can say:

1. (hours) or 2.(hours)

I think this is a great thread if we can get loads of members posting accurate battery times - great idea!

thanks but no one (except for solaris that is) was up for posting accurate battery life times  . So i went to that other battery sd card thread and tried to do the best with the battery life times from there, but there was loads of 'i got 35% left at the end of my average working day' stuff. Anyway,

with sd, with caller app: 22

w/o sd, with caller app : 41

with sd, without caller app:48 (only 1 reading)

w/o sd, without caller app:23 (only 1 reading, doubt this is right)

anyone wanna try w/o sd, without caller app

without sd card and IA -

So far......

24 hours with 52% battery left. Play about with it a little in this period. not many calls. Bluetooth off, was on for about and hour. screen saver on 'turn off', backlight timeout on 5 seconds.

24 hours with 52% battery left is good, let me know when its almost empty

30hr with 20% left. Phone gave me the warning to charge the phone. As i was going out i charged it incase it dies on me and i was stranded somewhere! So i couldn't test it further. Serious improvement though, by taking out sd card and IA

30 hours is cool, but having to sacrifice the sd i was hoping for at least two days

How do you find out the number of hours left?

I use Task Manager to find out the percentage left and I've also got BlindLemon Battery Monitor.

From the time you take it off charge to the time where it says 'bloody charge me now!'

you could always use this

http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=103551

it does all the clever maths to work out how fast the battery is losing charge and guetimates how long left you have.

i've tested it on my E100 and MPx200 and its close (it gets it right to within 2 hours normaly)

Right, results of my tests:

I tested these things: Bluetooth, GPRS detached and undetached (i.e. whether the G in the screen shows or not), SD Card and Caller ID (IA_CallerID).

The SD card I use for testing is the 8MB add-on card that came with my Orange SPV E200, the tool I use for time remaining is "Battery Monitor" and the tool for the Current (mA) is BlindLemon Battery Monitor. To end processes I used the SP Task Manager. All tests were carried out for 5 minutes and in all tests the only applications running were the monitoring tools, except for the first test. The 5 minute-period was timed using a digital stopwatch. Figures may or may not be 100% accurate.

Firstly, I did a "normal" test (in my case): switch phone on and BT is off, GPRS on, IA ID on, no SD card.

Results: After 5 mins. the batt monitor displays 2days, 19hours remaining and an Average Current (mA) of 55. (For this test I did each of the monitoring i.e. Current test and time remaining test separately)

Next I did GPRS Disconnect test, disconnected by press+hold Home and select detach GPRS.

Time remaining 2d 6h, average current 55mA.

Then I removed Caller ID, 3d 9h and average current 59mA.

Then I reset the whole phone (reboot) inserted the SD Card, disconnected the GPRS, killed the Caller ID App, at first the time remaining showed 3days+, after 5 mins, 2d23h, average mA of 82.

For Bluetooth, I had no Caller ID, GPRS disconnected, Bluetooth on, 3days,6h 63mA.

Then I did a "normal" test again, reboot phone, everything ctivated, with SD Card inserted. At first, it showed 3d 5 hr remaining, after the 5 minutes it showed 2d7h remaining and an average current of 88mA.

Hope this information is useful

i should mention that my battery meter works best if its left for a few hours running in the background, the way it works out the average battery usage using the average of the following numbers

fastest time it lost 1% of power

slowest time it lost 1% of power

average e100 battery drain taken from specs of phone ( 60 * 24* 3/100) (42.3 min's )

average battery drain for the mpx which (52 min's )

your going to get sightly skewed results for the first hour the programs runs because of the way its working out the fastest and slowest times.

attached is a version that displays the fast and slow usage times

so if you want to post your fast and slow times we can see what makes a difference
