Guest kennethmccann Posted January 29, 2004 Report Posted January 29, 2004 Hi, I'm having trouble with my inbox and was wondering if it's a side affect of the partial reboot problem. When someone sends an e-mail or text message the home screen doesn't register anything nor does the received sound play, etc. Yet on opening the inbox it has unread messages sitting there. I can send as normal. Also if the battery happens to run flat or I switch the phone off - all previous messages disappear but the data seems intact on the storage card. :?: Cheers, Kenny
Guest A-J Posted February 3, 2004 Report Posted February 3, 2004 Have you edited any of the registry or screens? I don't think it's a good idea but you might also consider a hard reset as a last resort.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted February 3, 2004 Report Posted February 3, 2004 If you have recieved a message and not read it, the notificataion will not sound again until you do. Another thing to try first before a hard reset is to try a different homescreen.
Guest kennethmccann Posted February 3, 2004 Report Posted February 3, 2004 I had a few bits and pieces done to the phone: - Unlocked A few apps and games installed SmartXP with the Jmms registry mod It was like this for a couple of months and running fine until I started to have some problems with the GPRS connection one weekend. It seemed to be running slow at the Orange side of things and locking up the phone when using IE. Battery life was pathetic over the same period. If Orange is having problems with GPRS over the network does the phone continually search for it? even when IE, etc are closed. I had tried a few homescreens but they were the same. I thought that the sound notification should happen everytime you get a new message whether there are previous unread messages or not. The MPX seems to again  and as far as I can remember so did my SPV? or if you mean that I shouldn't expect it to remind me there are unread messages waiting for me, I wasn't. There was simply no notification at all when they first arrived, no sound, no envelope on the homescreen and nothing on the message counter. I hard reset the phone and rebuilt the software, etc last night - it's hardly a surprize with the OS but everything is fine again, thanks. Cheers, Kenny
